"I recently had the pleasure of working with Joe at Joe's Drywall Repair on restoring the plaster in my 1927 bungalow, and I couldn't be more impressed with the results. From start to finish, Joe exceeded my expectations. The ceiling and wall restoration work was flawless—cracks were expertly repaired, and the retexturing matched the original finish perfectly, preserving the vintage charm of my home. One of the standout aspects of working with Joe was his punctuality and professionalism. He was consistently on time, and I was always informed about the stages of the job, which made the entire process smooth and stress-free. Communication was clear and responsive throughout, and I felt confident every step of the way. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the quality of work and the experience of working with Joe. If you're looking for a restoration specialist who truly understands the craft, I highly recommend Joe's Drywall Repair!"

"Level 5 arrived within the time window provided and quickly began to go to work.  Within minutes Chris realized that he did not have any materials to provide a dust barrier while they did their work (apparently the materials were somewhere else, and drywall work is very dusty).  I was able to provide him with some plastic to use and they draped the door to the bathroom.
The work on drywall appeared to proceed quickly with Chris and his son bringing in drywall and putting it up on the walls.  As this is a bathroom that is split between new and old construction and includes wall stud placement from previous but now removed windows, the placement of studs are not ideal for drywall installation.
As I observed their work, it became clear that Level 5 had forgotten more than just plastic to serve as a dust barrier.  They were also walking up and down my tiled porch and interior hardwood floors without any coverings on the porch or floor.  I had to pull my oriental rug out of the entry way because they were tracking drywall dust on it every time they walked the door.  I did not have any re-course on the hardwood floors in the hallway other than sending them home, so I hoped for the best when clean up came.
Interestingly enough, my tile contractor arrived while Chris and team were working, and was appalled by the lack of floor protection that Level 5 had provided.  He thought it was completely unprofessional and that Level 5's action were damaging both the tile porch and definitely the hardwood floor.  The dust materials are abrasive, and do damage hardwood floor finishes.
The recessed ceiling cans for the LED lights were filled not to the outside of the cans, but inside to the LED lights. I will have to clean out all the drywall mud so that the LED lights can move up/down to attached to their bezels.  Perhaps they are not familiar with these new types of lights, but it should have been obvious that filling inside the can is not proper technique.
At the end of the day, the crew did some cleanup.  They pulled out a broom and swept the bathroom and hallway, and washed down the porch.  And collected their check and left.  Their cleanup was very superficial...they did not have the equipment to do it right and I resigned myself to cleaning up after they left.  What I did not see initially was how much work that meant. Not only did we have to clean the floor multiple times (vacuum, dry mop, wet mop twice) to get the drywall dust out, but their use of the 'dust barrier' was such that it was not much of a barrier at all.  We had dust throughout the house, and needed to dust all of the first floor counter-tops and furniture and clean all the floors.  Overall, we spent more than 5 hours cleaning up for 7 hours of Level 5's work.
While I appreciate Level 5's responsiveness to my quote request and getting to my job quickly, I can't recommend them for anyone doing a remodel within an existing house.  Their hygiene practices are possibly appropriate for new construction and maybe a garage, but I would not let them into my house again.   And I would not hire them to do my garage because I think their rates are too high for 'garage' work.
By the way, my tile contractor had his crew in my house today...no worries or clean up on my part.  That is what I would expect, and I think that is a reasonable expectation."

"Superior Stucco did a fantastic job on the repairs we needed. I know how difficult it is to match texture and have seen some horrible repair work. These guys are very professional and the outcome was excellent. I would highly recommend them if you want the repairs done correctly. I'm sure there are cheaper guys out there, but when you see what it takes to do it right, you understand. Great work."

"John power washed the entire house. A few days later, he appeared with a full crew for the job.  After carefully protecting and covering all of my new windows, the old stucco was preped and the new stucco applied.  The house looks like new and has an updated stucco pattern and we get rave reviewsabout how great it looks.  The crew was very professional and cleaned up everything perfectly when the job was completed.

"I hired Robert to paint my entire home after I suffered water damage that required extensive repair. I found Robert McKay to be an ethical professional who makes no excuses and gets the job done right. He cleaned up as he went, was organized, and thorough in his work. He pays attention to detail, which is important, and he is reliable, and flexible in working with your home issues and deadlines. I definitely will and have referred him to friends."

"The crew at Ceiling Specialist did an excellent job with my ceilings! I was under a deadline to have work done in my unit and they were expeditious in the removal of the acoustic ceiling, retexture, and painting. They used high quality materials for the work. The workers were extremely friendly and took great care with clean-up each day. I have 2 floors and vaulted ceilings which can pose quite a challenge, but the work was consistently top notch through the entire unit. In all honesty, I just couldn't live with the popcorn ceiling in my unit. It looked so bad (even worse on vaulted ceilings), I don't know how others in my complex have managed, but I will be recommending Ceiling Specialists to them as well."

FAQs for plaster repair projects in Jamul, CA

Yes, crumbling plaster poses a safety hazard. Crumbling plaster overhead can drop heavy pieces that injure anyone below. The risk increases if the material contains older additives, such as asbestos or lead-based paint, which can become airborne when the surface is disturbed. Have a qualified pro test and repair deteriorating areas quickly to keep your family—and pets—safe.

Ceiling plaster repairs require a lighter touch than wall repairs. Plaster repair professionals apply thinner coats of plaster to ceilings to reduce weight and smooth the surface, which helps prevent future sagging. Wall repairs can handle extra texture and additional layers without risking structural strain. A plaster repair pro will have the expertise to determine the best technique for your problem area.
