Customers say: Quick response

"Josh helped us install all our plumbing in a new house build. We have an off grid system using a 2500 gallon rain catch system and he seamlessly installed all our plumbing and filtration to operate like a regular house on city water. He also helped us install a gas line for our stove. Josh is a true professional with fair prices and it was a pleasure to work with him. We've already referred him to others and highly recommend him for all your plumbing needs"

"It was an emergency repair for piping underneath the crawl space for a pin hole leak that was seeping under vanity and seeping onto our wood floors. West located that leak along with another unexpected leak within a different side if the house!! Good Job! It was a bit pricey but it was a Sunday, an emergency and there was more plumbing repairs done than what was originally expected. But we are totally satisfied with the work completed. Considering some additional work by them as requested. Very reliable!!!"

"Ed’s plumbing is simply the best plumber in this area. He went out of his way and removed a small stump also in the front yard for me. Ed is a good man and will give you a very fair price. DO Not ever use Hometown plumbing! They charged me twice the price Ed’s. Plumbing charged me and I called Ed’s plumbing to fix the mess they caused and Hometown Plumbing did not fix the problem. Ed done the job right and used the correct parts to fix the problem. There was a root inside the pipe between the foundation and Ed cut it out. Problem solved. It should have been fixed right the first time and Hometown put a bandaid on the problem. Sincerely j. Cobb"

"I called at 11 a.m and was told they would get to me that afternoon or the next morning. They sent Chad that afternoon and he quickly installed a new p-trap and connected a condensation line from my attic air conditioner - something he hadn't seen in his 15 years of plumbing. The response and the workmanship was excellent."

"Both jobs went great! They arrived promptly the first time, and called when they hit a traffic detour the second time even though they were only 15 minutes behind the scheduled time. All jobs were completed in a timely manner and they picked up the toilet for installation after we chose one at a local retailer. Both times after they left, you could not tell that any work had just occurred - it was that clean! Definitely my go-to plumbers in the future."

"After calling 20 plumbers to repair a water leak at my father’s house that happened the Saturday after Christmas, Davis Plumbing was the only provider that responded to my call. Jerry Davis answered immediately and responded every time that I contacted him. He came when he said he would, and repaired the leak quickly and at a very reasonable price. He and his partner were professional and very pleasant. I was so thankful for their help. I would highly recommend Davis Plumbing. They will be the only plumbing service that I will use for any future business."

"Mr. Lambert was responsive to my call and called me back the same day as my call. He said when he would be able to look over the plumbing and followed through with what he said. A few days later he gave me a price to re-plumb the house using PEX. He also repaired a drain line that needed to be repaired made of cast iron that he saw needing attention. An additional faucet was added outside. He and his son worked as a team. They were fast and their work looks sharp. And what a difference in water flow and pressure. You cannot go wrong with this company! Their work is quality and their price is fair. They earned my trust."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Johnson City, TN

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
