"Brian came over after we had talked with several contractors about a concrete porch underside (in basement room) and one of those contractors made us think the concrete was in such a bad state of "imminent failure" that it needs a full replacement. So, while we continued to get quotes for a full replacement, we also asked a retired architect friend to give his opinion. He did not think concrete was so bad and he was glad we were having a structural engineer (Brian) coming over a few days later. Brian explained why he did not think the concrete was in need of full replacement (very expensive!) and also the damage was not a foundation/structure integrity issue (not "imminent failure"). We had spoken to several contractors and the cost to fully replace is upwards of 15-20 thousand dollars. From the state of the concrete, Brian did not believe the "symptoms" warranted a full replacement and that the more likely issue was simply that we never "sealed" the concrete with epoxy (and only painted the concrete porch). Given the sky-rocketing costs to do any home repairs, it seems more reasonable for us to do first level repair (not replace) that Brian suggests. Brian's honest and informative consultation (for free!!!) is piece of mind and a HUGE savings. We greatly appreciate Brian coming over to educate us - on his own dime. We will definitely ask Brian to come over again if/when we think we need an honest assessment of our home foundation needs."

"This project exceeded our expectations! John always returned calls right away, showed up when he said exactly when he said he would, and completed the project without any gaps or delays. The price was fair and more reasonable that we have found with others bidding on our home repairs. He was meticulous with details, which isn't always easy to find when hiring a contractor. He didn't mind giving us options and was flexible about the choices we made with the project. (Project details: sand away varnish on 37 cabinets plus fridge panels, apply two coats of primer, one or two coats of topcoat for an excellent finish. Electrical repair for two lights. Trim replacement throughout kitchen. Carpentry repair on pull-out bin area mechanism. Replacement of all kitchen hardware including hinges throughout.) We are looking forward to our next project with John!"

"Mike is a true professional.  He has been doing this kind of work for a number of years and it was obvious he knew his work once he began.  He works with one other employee and both of them were diligent in starting and completing the work.  I built the original wall and it took me about 2 months, and it the end it was a work I would not ever do again by myself, considering the engineering required and the liftng of blocks. <br />"

"Our Home is old. The chimney was falling apart and blocked.   In order to hook up our new hot water heater, the chimney had to be opened and lined. It was a difficult job and the men were determined to get this job done and make sure the job was complete before they left. They were wonderful! They accomplished getting all the debris out of the chimney and installed the liner.  They cleaned up nicely and made sure that we were good to go! <br />"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Johnstown, PA

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
