"Outstanding from start to finish. I cannot fully express the satisfaction we have with the work done. The crew was amazing. The drive,(asphalt covering cracked and crumbling concrete) was removed along with the front steps... gone, with new steps formed ready to pour on day 2. On day 2, the drive vas formed, base put in and steps poured. Day three, the rest of the pour was completed. Super fast and efficient crew, everyone had a job, and knew how and when to do their jobs without being told. It was quite a refreshing difference from the last company [DCs Precision (haha) Concrete LLC] we had do concrete work. We do not hesitate to tell people who did our front concrete work... and they do ask!"

"It went very well. The driveway, sidewalk and stoop all look great. The employees were capable and efficient. They recommended a slightly larger stoop which I'm happy with as well. They cleaned up all the debris and hauled it away. They weren't even angry when my dog got away from my husband and walked through wet cement. They just smiled and said they were happy to fix it. OCC wasn't the cheapest bidder but I selected them on the positive reviews I read on Angies List. I had two very minor issues (not related to the actual concrete). My contact was Jason Reichard and he handled both issues quickly and professionally. I was very impressed with his responsiveness."

"Work was done as promised - timely and high quality. The work was performed at my elderly parents home and they were very respectful of property and with my parents. As caregiver, they kept them and me updated on status and progress. I'd recommend."

"They replaced our garage floor, part of our driveway, a concrete pad in our backyard, and some work out front including a 6' step and it all looks amazing! Once the job started everyone was very efficient, worked every day until project was totally completed, cleaned up everything when they were done. Absolutely worth waiting to work with David and his crew. Another thing that I very much appreciated was his honest feedback about what we needed to replace and what we could wait on. We had 3 bids total and Enkore was right in line, glad we went with them!"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Kansas City, MO

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
