"Five stars for Apex Site Works. They just finished resurfacing our driveway with gravel and fixed our sloping issues. The work is top-notch, and they even brought in extra material to make sure the job was done right. Great communication and followed through on every detail until the project was complete. Professional, punctual, and went the extra mile. Highly recommend!""

"I had problems in our back yard with water pooling during heavy rainfall and was concerned about possible flooding of our house and garage.  We have a pool and concrete patio, so I knew this was not going to be an easy fix.

Rob came out and spent about 2 hours looking over our situation and talking about options.  After he left, he came up with a single plan with components so we could proceed one step at a time, then wait and evaluate the success of that step or do a number of steps at once.

Since we we were very concerned about the possibility of flooding, we elected to proceed with regrading, adding an exterior drainage line from the garage to the street, replacing an existing line from the house to the street, adding catch basins and re-grading areas around the house and garage.

The work was done at the days and times arranged; the crew was very considerate and professional and the work was beautiful.

Most importantly, we have had several very heavy rainfalls and the solutions we had implemented by Works By Rob are performing as well as we had hoped.   We had no accumulation of water and no worries!"

"This was the best landscape company I have ever worked with. I had a long list of very specific things I wanted done. Some people might call me "particular", I just say thorough. Jason gave me a competitive bid on all of them, line item by line item. He addressed issues of hard to find plant varieties and sizes. The work was done on schedule and professionally. He corrected several problems left by my previous company that have been a thorn for me for a couple years. I love my yard again! I highly recommend working with this company, 5 stars doesn't seem like enough but it is as high as the rating goes."

FAQs for excavation major grading or resloping projects in Katy, TX

You can excavate in winter, but frozen soil slows down the process and increases labor costs. Many grading companies offer discounted rates during their off-season, so ask for a winter quote and weigh the savings against a longer timeline. A brief conversation with a local professional will help determine whether cold-weather excavation is suitable for your site.

Foundation digs can be completed in as little as three days or take up to three weeks. Soil density, access, weather, and hidden obstacles all play a role, so every timeline is a bit different. Have your contractor walk the site and flag any potential issues early—clear expectations help keep both the schedule and budget on track.

You must always call 811 before excavating. Dial 811 a few days in advance so that utility crews can mark underground lines and ensure the area is safe for digging. Hitting a buried cable or gas pipe can be both dangerous and expensive, and many municipalities will not issue permits unless the site is flagged correctly.

To remove soil during an excavation project, your crew will load the spoil into dump trucks with a backhoe or excavator, haul it to a disposal site, and return for the next load. Efficient hauling keeps the work zone clear and the project moving. Depending on the site and volume of osil, multiple trucks may rotate to maintain a steady flow.
