"Hands down the BEST plumber I’ve ever dealt with!! He had me send photos of the tank and area (which I liked because I didn’t have to clear my schedule for the estimate. Super convenient!) He was super helpful in answering all of my questions about my options, he was very polite, left the area cleaner than he found it and he was the lowest price in the area for the best work. Without specifying, he installed a quality brand tank and removed the old one and made sure we knew how to operate everything and suggested we flush the tank every 6 months to extend the life of the tank. I refuse to use anyone else but him now. That’s the only time I’ve not felt like I was getting “hustled” or taken advantage of by a plumber. Such a positive experience during a stressful situation!! THANK YOU!!!!!!"

"This was a major plumbing overhaul/update of my bath and kitchen plumbing. The pipes coming into the house had to be accessed through holes in the side yard, and the basement wall. Since my bathroom would be torn up, I decided on a partial remodel. Experienced Plumbing provided me with names of a tile installer, plasterer, and a resource for my flooring. The entire EP team, and all of the people they recommended, were wonderful, coordinating their schedules to get this job done. Ron and Angela were so friendly and considerate, monitoring progress every step of the way to ensure my satisfaction. I will certainly call or recommend Experienced Plumbing LLC in the future."

"Jim was patient and let me pick out the faucets, taking time to really find what I wanted. Then he picked up the faucets at the store for me! He worked after 7pm and completely finished what he was doing. I told him he was my favorite plumber. I will definitely call him if I need plumbing work again. (He put in a water heater for me before and worked long hours for that too.)"

"It went fabulously well. Not only did they do the work they explicitly agreed to do, but as they encountered problems, they repaired those as well. For example, they had agreed to replace the stops under the upstairs bathroom sink, but then when they saw that the stops under the half bath sink were incorrectly done, they redid those as well. They removed a tangle of pipe near the washing machine, replumbing that AND the utility sink. They also cleaned out the kitchen faucet which was becoming clogged, and ensured our drinking water R/O system was off of softened water (instead of hard water)! So there's a lot of value here for the cost, and I was very pleased with how quickly everything was done, given the enormous scope of the job. And, they said it would take a whole day, but then were done by 1 pm! Great Lakes shot to the top of my list for plumbing services in Kalamazoo."

"Ernie, from Modern Plumbing, came on time and ready to work. He had to work very hard to remove the old galvanized pipe, most of which was behind some cabinets. I was glad to give him a hand because it actually took two people to do some of the job. I was very pleased to see that Ernie was willing to listen to my concerns, he was respectful and diligent in the way he carried out his duties. He did cut a couple of pipes two short, which forced him to do additional work, thus lengthening the duration of his visit and the final cost of the project (Modern Plumbing charges by increments of 15 minutes). There was some time idling in the van both before Ernie came in the house and after the job was completed, which I was also charged for. The project was a bit in the expensive side, but I was satisfied with the work performed. <br />"

"Massive backwash from city sewer. It took several months to complete everything. Mike fit us in among his already scheduled jobs. I find Riston to be honest, reliable and very accommodating. This company made a nightmare of a summer much more bearable. I would recommend them for anything. They have also done exterior work including building 2 porches and roofing my home. I rely upon them for total home care."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Kendall, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
