"In 2020 and 2021, our asphalt-shingled roof leaked and we had it repaired. The repairer said that our roof should have been first covered with ½” plywood before the shingles had been attached. That’s why the shingles were failing after only 17 years. After the second leak, we decided that we did not want to risk another repair cycle. But who should we hire ? We thought about getting “the best price,” but that’s how we got our last roofer. This time we relied on an established company, Community Roofing and Restoration. We had seen the company install roofs all around the East Side and, in fact, the founder, Jim Godsil had helped install sky lights on our roof back in 1980. Also, the company was highly rated by many homeowners at Angi. So in December, 2021 we called Community Roofing and Restoration to replace our roofs (now the house and garage) in the spring. We also had the gutters replaced and two skylights installed. All went very well. There were a few minor problems regarding small details but the company was quick to oblige. Indeed, the roofing and gutter crews were quite skilled and their teamwork was impressive. Also, everyone was courteous and helpful. Since the work was completed, we have had a number of rainstorms and the roof is working well. Thank you Community Roofing and Restoration—Josh Fraundorf owner!"

"About a year ago, after several days of heavy wind and rain, I woke up to my roof leaking into my living room. After trying to contact several roofing contractors, Dialed In sent someone over to take a look. It was too late in the season for them to do the roof replacement last year, but they kindly sent one of their guys to do a temporary repair to get me through the winter. They did the temporary fix for no charge, with the agreement that I would have them do the roof and gutters this year. They were very nice to work with. Their crews were very efficient and had the space cleaned up as soon as the job was complete. I highly recommend."

"After the recent storm our roof took on major wind damage. Nick and his wife were excellent, they worked directly with our insurance company. They made everything smooth and easy. We will definitely work with them in the future!"

"It is a fairly well known company in the area for roofing business. Our experience with them has been very positive. We had hail damage and they called and gave us the estimate. We spotted that their price would be covered by our insurance company so we went with them. They were very punctual. We retuned the deposit with their quote. They sent immediate response saying that they received the deposit and would be calling us in the next few weeks to schedule the time to begin the work. They did exactly what they said they would. It was very clean when they finished the work. We found little pieces of shingles and nails here and there but roofing can be a messy job. When they finished the roof it looked great. We had a couple of problems afterwards it was because the way the house was constructed. They came back out assessed what needed to be done and how much it would cost. We have used them at 3 different occasions and it’s been a very positive experience all the way around. I used them for roof and shortly after that we had some problem with the ice damn on the roof and it was leaking through. I called the representative. He said it was one part where the problem was and I said that was exactly the spot where the problem laid. He told me what needed to be done. They came back out when the weather broke. The problem was where the second storey wall hit the roof. They came back out and pulled back the siding and installed water proof barrier between there and the roof. We had no problems after that. Last year they did some siding for us at the back of our house."

"They did an absolutely outstanding job replacing my roof during the <br /> cold.  The workers were personable, reliable, and efficient.  When the <br /> job was completed the cleanup was exceptional. <br /> I couldn't have <br /> been happier with the results.  If you are considering SPS for a roofing <br /> job they are exactly the folks that should be hired.  Even when the <br /> workers needed to go to another flat of shingles over what was <br /> estimated, my final price was no higher than the estimate I was given.  <br /> That doesn't happen very much in this world anymore, most places would <br /> have passed the additional cost on to me and just said that an estimate <br /> is just that an estimate. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Kenosha, WI

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
