"Overall, this was an extremely positive experience. I'm a graphic designer and I am very detail-oriented. In other words, I'm not the easiest person to please, but I have to admit I am so impressed with our new walkway. It's really beautiful! We get compliments from our neighbors, as well as complete strangers all the time. The process started in early August 2017 when TJ came out to meet with me. I showed him a rough drawing of what my husband and I had in mind. He liked our ideas and offered some really good suggestions. He emailed his estimate about 2 days later, then I went out to his Euclid showroom to look at colors and patterns of pavers. The young man there was helpful and answered all of my questions. Soon after, we settled on a design, style and color, and TJ made us feel confident in our choices. About 2-1/2 weeks later, his crew came out to put in the new walkway. The guys arrived early, they were courteous and always professional. David (I believe was his name) completed the majority of the work. He was fast yet meticulous. I really admired his craftsmanship. He cleaned up while he worked and at the end of each day. The project was completed in about a day and a half. The estimate was accurate. We are very thankful for our new walkway which is the focal point of our new front yard landscaping."

"We hired Koontz Construction to replace the front stoop of our 1920’s Cleveland Heights house. Our stoop was larger and more complex compared to those on most other homes in the Heights and the job was made even more complicated because we wanted to incorporate into the top some granite slabs that match granite I’ve installed on a side porch and the rear entrance to the house. Koontz did a beautiful job; they weren’t fazed by our unusual and very detailed requirements for how various elements of the stoop, like the mortar and the pattern of the brick, should look (in part to match the rest of the house) and they did much more work on constructing the foundation and interior structure of the stoop than I had expected. This included pouring a foundation under the entire structure, not just under the walls which I noticed another company doing a few houses down from us while Koontz was working on our project. The crew was courteous and professional throughout and the owner was meticulous in his craftsmanship and kept us well-informed of their work schedule. On top of all of this, their price was slightly lower than two competing bids I had solicited. As ‘icing on the cake’, while they were working on our stoop, I asked if they might also replace several sections of badly heaved (due to tree roots) front sidewalk. They agreed to add this to the scope of the project for an additional $1100, about half the price I was quoted last year for this same work. It was, of course, more cost-effective for Koontz Construction because they were already involved in concrete work at the house, but they did an excellent job on the sidewalk, too, elegantly curving it around a large tree to minimize damage and perfectly matching the finish to the remaining sidewalk slabs. I highly recommend Koontz Construction!"

"My driveway required removal, redesign and replacement and it included the sidewalk to the stoop/front door. Redesign was meant to lessen a troublesome curve on a hill and make it easier to navigate, especially in the winter. Owner Dan, also being a snow plow guy, offered me good advice and I used it. Dan came out twice, and was not bothered by me needing to see the changes marked off again, for the second time. The cement design work on the finished drive and walkway surfaces really looks great. No other contractors even mentioned any top finish work like this and he still had the best price. Cleaning up after the job was less than I expected. Dan left excavated grass/soil chunks from the city approved changes, spaced along the newly redesigned and now poured drive. What grass/soil came out went back in place by me, little by little over the following three days. My only other expenses were a small seed bag, 1/2 bale of straw and a couple bags of top soil. I couldn't be more pleased with the final outcome. Even my neighbors stopped by to say what a nice looking job Mardan Cement did. Dan didn't leave before providing face-to-face instructions for new concrete maintenance. One week after the pour one of his guys came out and sealed the drive. They did a great job and I would not hesitate to recommend Mardan Cement to others. G.K., Solon"

FAQs for interlocking pavers for driveways & floors installation projects in Kent, OH

With proper maintenance, permeable pavement can last for over 20 years. Bi-annual vacuuming prevents clogs from debris and sediment, extends the pavement’s lifespan, and helps you avoid costly driveway repairs. Permeable pavement often has a shorter lifespan in areas with heavy traffic or harsh weather conditions.

Pervious and porous usually refer to pouring asphalt or concrete—which is a single massive object—but with enough small holes to allow for even drainage. This is also sometimes called thirsty concrete. Permeable concrete pavers are precast concrete designed to also allow for drainage. Permeable grass pavers allow grass to grow through them and provide drainage.

Pervious, porous, and permeable pavers are similar because they make it easier for rain or snow to drain or absorb into the ground rather than overload the storm or sewer systems.

The most significant benefit of water-permeable pavement is that it helps precipitation absorb better (and slower) into the ground, which avoids overloading sewers and causing overflows and backups. It also helps recharge the groundwater and prevent agricultural runoff from lawns.

If you’ve ever seen water rushing into a storm drain, permeable pavement prevents that. Instead of water running off a steep driveway, a good amount of it “soaks” directly underneath the pavement.

Topmix permeable concrete costs $8 to $16 per square foot, including all installation costs. However, they give out estimates on a project-by-project basis. However, Tarmac, the company that made the product, no longer produces Topmix.

Ecoraster is a brand that offers many different permeable paving options in North America. Prices vary depending on the product and project. They’ll give estimates for each individual project. While not actual pavers, these grids serve a similar function. Ecoraster grids come in various styles and allow for similar drainage compared to permeable pavers or porous paving.

Permeable driveways may cost slightly more than a traditional paving type, but they reduce or eliminate the need to install any other type of drainage system. Drainage systems cost $2,000 to $6,500 to install. They also reduce stormwater runoff, sewer overflows, and help eliminate urban agriculture runoff, which can pollute waterways.
