"Brandon's crew was great. They were always friendly, explained everything they were doing and made sure to ask us our opinion if something needed to be changed slightly. Brandon kept us informed the whole time and did multiple estimates for us as we narrowed down the fencing we wanted to use. Our yard is on a steep hill and they handled it with no problems and the fence looks great! Would definitely recommend this company."

"Mr. Lambert was always accessible before the work started and onsite throughout the project. His emplayees seemed competent and efficient. Any questions I had were addressed and as a home owner, I felt confident in the knowledge, service, and workmanship provided by this company. While the price was higher than some bids, the results were worth it."

"The project was to install a new pool from scratch. We started in Oct with the design of the pool. Overall the design process went well. The excavation took place in December and the concrete for the walls went in in Jan. From here, the schedule completely fell apart. Despite the amount of money you will pay for the pool, you as the customer will be expected to perform a lot of the oversight of the sub contractors and you are on the hook to clean up after them. March turned into April. By late April, we had figured out that our project manager had left the pool company. Our project made slow progress but by mid May the pool pump equipment was installed. By early June the pool deck was poured and the water was put in by the end of June. Despite having a new project manager, you will not see the PM on days when big events are happening, you will be on your own to make sure the project is put in correctly and that the sub contractors clean up after themselves. It is now late August and the pool has failed county inspection three times for various different issues. Do you expect hiccups along the way on a big project like a pool - Yes and we had quite a few. After all was said and done, A&S corporate headquarters stepped in and is doing what they can to ensure the project gets finished in the manner it should of be. Will you get a pool installed - Yes. Will you have to do a lot of supervision - Yes. However, for the amount of money that you will spend and how long you will look at the final product, I find it difficult to recommend using this company."

"Crew showed up exactly when they said they would. They spent a day and a half getting things ready for the concrete. On the third day they were here, the concrete went in and they smoothed it out.The guys was very polite and courteous. They offered suggestions and were very helpful throughout the entire process. We were very pleased with Concrete Solutions. <br />"

"I heard some bad reports on a concrete provider and Nick made sure the concrete was provided by someone I approved of.  Only been a little over a month, but so far we are pleased. I would have rated overall and quality as excellent, but I want to see how the driveway holds up over the winter. <br />"

"My first encounter with United Structural Systems company ( USS) was last year, when I had to face the decision which company I go for foundation repair at my house in West Virginia. It was equal bids on my project from two companies USS and Alltek. Unfortunately for me, I made the decision to go with Alltek Environmental Services company at that time. Foundation repair was finished in August 2019 by Alltek (please read my review, that I placed separately for Alltek). 48,000 dollars payment later foundation been done. I finally be able to place my house for sale this year and come to realization, after inspection is done on the house, that it is a presence of water leak in the storage area. I could not believe, how it is possible, when the foundation repair was just done 8 months ago. I guess, things were not done properly after all. After numerous attempts to contact Alltek company, I finally be able to get the response with another promise to “fix it” in the amount of $9,200 or later for free…if I take off my review of their company from homeadvisor.com. Lack of professionalism, poor craftsmanship and PR was major disappointment for me. To be honest, after I been treating inferiorly by Alltek, I did not have any desire to go back to the same company. I was looking for second opinion how to resolve these issues. I decided to reach out again United Structural (who I was hoped to remember me from last year) and explain my dilemma. Bobby K. (Sales Manager for USS) come to the rescue! He was willing to give me his unbiased opinion on the situation. Bobby K, “commander in charge”, went to the house and informed me, that “downspout lines were never installed, the part on top of the ground went nowhere and tie back patch was poor quality”. Simply put it, Alltek did a mediocre job. I immediately made the decision go ahead and proceed with United Structural Systems company for repair of the mistakes. I cannot say enough praise for the USS company and manager Bobby K. This re-du project was done in timely matter, communication was superior ( needless to say I live out of state and it was never an issue), area after the job was clean up to perfection and…the garage/storage area now look dry bone and beautiful. Awhhhh... maybe I should not sell my house after all?! I have a buyer on the house, and I am closing in 2 weeks and can say with all honesty, I could not do that without United Structural help. It was exceedingly difficult situation for me, and it was resolved by USS company with flying colors. Thank you again USS. I recommend you without any hesitation!!! Your company should be proud of to provide such an excellent service and have knowledgeable, competent and skillful experts. Lana Y, Rochester, NY “We are NY tough”"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Kilsyth, WV

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
