"We have used Doctor Flue for over 30 years. He installed our fireplace in 1990 and has returned every year to clean it. We burn wood every day in the winter in our Grizzly fireplace. Always on time, always courteous, always a job well done. Friendly employees. Wouldn't use anyone else."

"I received my radon results in a timely manner. I did not hire them specifically, (so, I cannot say I would hire them again) the local company contracted them for this service. The home inspector I hired, handled this service for me and included the results in his report."

"They seemed to know what they were doing and they worked efficiently to fix the problem. They communicated well throughout the process as they had to cut a hole in the ceiling below the plumbing. They did as little damage as possible to the plaster/lathe ceiling."

"Paul is a true, salt-of-the-earth professional. He never promises anything he can't deliver, and tells you exactly what to expect. He brought his son Michael, who has his own heating and cooling business, to help with heavy lifting and creating some additional ductwork. Before they could do anything, they had to enlarge the trap door opening, which they did very neatly (and put it back exactly the way it had been before). We knew Paul would do a great job installing and testing the new furnace, because he has kept the old one going since we bought this house three years ago, despite the fact that the company no longer makes parts for it. The installation went seamlessly. Heat and AC are both working perfectly. Paul, in his meticulous way, checked EVERYTHING. He's been in the business a long time, and knows exactly what he's doing. Highly recommended! BTW, he claims to be a grump, but is actually very twinkly and charming. :-) When the final bill arrived, the cost was $885 less than the original estimate!"

"I was frustrated that they didn't cover our garbage disposal and they didn't cover the thermostat, otherwise everything we did there was great. I didn't have any problems. It's $50 a month, and then everything is covered. You don't have to pay for people to come out. When our hot water heater broke, we had to pay for the new water heater, but that just for the actual thing, not anything else like the service or installation."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Kincheloe, MI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
