"Jim was very helpful and personable to work with.  I had recently moved to the Huntsville area and was unable to connect my wireless printer.   There were also some things going on with my laptop that made me suspect a virus had somehow gotten on to it, it was running more slowly than usual, and I wasn't happy with the Win7 configuration I had done when I bought the computer.  Jim came in and assessed the problems and we agreed on a time for him to take the laptop and reinstall the OS.  He was able to get the wireless connection to work as well.  He took the computer on a Friday evening and returned it Sunday evening in prime condition. 
A few weeks later I  got an error message while reinstalling my accounting software so I called Jim.  He talked me through the problem over the phone and I was able to get the program installed so I could use the program.
Jim is great to work with, his pricing is very fair, he is prompt and reliable.  I will definitely use his services again.

"There was only one hang up. When I contacted them through e-mail I indicated that I wanted to talk about installing an antique wood burning stove in addition to the chimney inspection and cleaning. The appointment was made for the afternoon on a certain day. But, the guys called that morning and left a message on my voicemail saying they could come early. I did not get the voicemail and they showed up early anyway. I was not home but my mother was there. Unfortunately, these guys did not get the word from the scheduler in the office that I wanted to talk about the installation of the wood burning stove in addition to having the chimney cleaned. So they came did they work and left. I called the workers back (since I had their phone number from the voicemail) and communicated my annoyance at the schedule change. The guy was very apologetic and offered to come back though he was no longer available at the scheduled time which I had blocked off on my calendar.
However, we ended up talking about the project over the phone and he was able to give me all the information I needed about the potential installation over the phone. He was very knowledgable and helpful. So, I'd like to give them a "B" for punctuality though that doesn't seem to really fit the situation. So they get all As despite this little hitch.

"I highly recommend Mr. Danforth's services with The Fireplace Doctor!  He was professional and did a thorough job.  The level of service went above and beyond my expectations, especially since I had purchased the service via the discounted "Big Deal" promotion here on Angie's List. We are new homeowners of an 8 year old house. The previous owners had installed a low-lying deck which blocked outside access to the dryer vent.  Because of an excessively long, elbowed vent pipe that practically runs the length of the house, Mr. Danforth was only able to initially clean a partial section.  He was willing to return--  free of charge -- within the week, to allow us time to remove a few deck boards to expose the outside vent.  Of course, the vent was completely blocked with lint.  Mr. Danforth was able to remove approximately 8 years worth of lint debris.  This fire hazard has been removed and is no longer a threat to my family.  I feel blessed that I made that call to The Fireplace Doctor! Our clothes, despite the use of fabric softener, no longer have a stale smell to them. The drying time has been cut in half!  Because of this, I look forward to my reduced electric bill. Thank you Fireplace Doctor."

"AHS is ok. They cover repairs of most everything under the roof of your house. The companies that contract with them are not always the best. You call AHS with the issue, they send a fax to the repair company and give you the contact info. If they don't contact you within 24 hours, you call them. Sometimes they answer, sometimes they don't. When they arrive (usually three days or so later), they service the item. if it has issues within the 90 days, you call AHS again, they are sent out with no charge. If the serviceman decides the unit is unrepairable, AHS will allow you to choose a replacement from their listing (usually not as good as what you have) they will install and remove your old item, or give you wholesale amount to buy and install your own. Prices vary on what you want covered and what you want the copay to be, plus where you live. For me it is 49.99 per month with a 75.00 time of service order. You can have more than one item serviced at the same time under the same fee. If you have a SEAR product the repair guys are great. Not that wild about the other ones they send out. But it is a big savings compared to calling someone on your own. The cost of service is only the 75.00 copay."

SCHEDULE ME RIGHT AWAY, THEY HAD A TECH WORKING ON THE AREA AND THEY
SEND HIM WITHING 2 HOURS, THE TECHNICIAND DIAGNOSED THE CAPASITOR AND
THE CONTACTOR TO BE DEFFECTIVE, HE EXPLAINED TO ME THE CHARGES AND I
AGREED TO THE PRICE HE INSTALLED THE PARTS AND TESTE THE UNIT FOR
PROPPER REFRIGERANT CHARGE, EVERYTHING WAS UP TO PERFORMANCE AND MY
HOUSE STARTED TO COOL, THEY DID A GOOD JOB AND IT WAS DONE THE SAME DAY,
I WILL CALL THEM EVERYTIME IF I NEED SERVICE ON MY HOME APPLIANCES OR
HVAC SYSTEM AGAIN.
THE TECHNICIAN WAS VERY PROFESIONAL HE TOOK THE TIME TO EXPLAIN TO ME EVERY SINGLE THING THAT HE CHECKED AND SHOWED ME THE DEFFECTIVE PARTS, I COULD SEE THE CAPASITOR ALL INFLATED READY TO EXPLODE AND THE CONTACTOR WITH BLACK BURN SPOTS, TO ME THAT HE DID A GREAT JOB AND HE WAS VERY HONEST EXPLAINING ALL WHAT HE FOUND.
