"They provided a fair bid and their work was excellent. They build a new level to our outdoor patio and redid the tile on our old patio. They also created a great gravel walkway with stairs. Very professional crews and got the job done when they said they would. No surprises."

"I had a concrete patio replaced and added a cement walkway from patio to road. It turned out great, very pleased, I like it a lot. I subsequently had Collin replace the dirt and weeds between patio and road with new turf. It turned out great too. Thank you Collin. "

Customers say: Quick response

"Mike was great and seemed very knowledgeable. My house and property was significantly damaged by flooding and it is a big job. I didn't get a bid for the full scope of work from Mike and ultimately decided on a contractor that gave me a bid for everything and knew personally. I looked at pictures of Mike's cabinet work and was impressed. It was a tough decision and work has not yet begun because I'm waiting on insurance. Mike was very kind which I appreciated during such a stressful time. "

"Johnny was awesome. His work is top notch. He had to spend way more time than he expected to finish our job due to unforeseen issues, but finished the job with a smile on his face. I love my new French doors! I am looking forward to hiring him for a bathroom remodel in the near future."

"The Slabjack NW crew was very efficient and professional. They took a look at the job when they got on site, described what they could and could not do, and got right to work. Once they were done, everything was cleaned up and the holes we patched. Only way I can tell they were even there is that my concrete patio slabs are now level with one another!"

"All of the work was performed in a satisfactory way. Casey is very skilled, and he works steadily and efficiently until the job is done. I hired him to attend to the flower beds since he had transformed another flower bed in the past, which ever since has been weed-free. Casey is a top-flight handyman. I highly recommend him. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in La Conner, WA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
