"I highly recommend John Giddings who installed sidewalks and a concrete patio for me. His attention to detail was impressive, and the finished work exceeded my expectations. The quality craftsmanship and timely completion make them a top choice for any concrete projects. Overall, a 5-star experience and higher."

"It went great. First, the sales person was very helpful explaining the mold testing and remediation process. He went through the steps that would be taken and then he followed up with the results. On the french drain,/sump pump change out/ wall rebuild, it was quick and painless. Again my sales person was very clear in the process and the steps. When he came for a walk through there were some options in what would occur in the installation and he made fully aware of any potential changes in cost (there were none though). The workers came on time (ok a bit early) and finished early as well. Finally, they were helpful and clear walking through all the changes that occurred and the guarantees given."

"JBW Masonry did absolutely excellent work!!! I found them through Angie's list and we are over the moon pleased with their work. Josh met our contractor for an estimate. While JBW Masonry was not our least expensive bid, I could tell from our initial meeting that he knew what he was doing, as we have had extensive masonry work done in the past. He is competitive for the quality of work and worth every penny. Josh, Troy, and crew started when they said they would and and finished in a timely manner. Everyone was neat, courteous, and took pride in their work. In fact, one of the things we enjoyed noting was watching the crew continually step back to assess their work. They laid out all the stone on the ground and then carefully selected the best rock for the location. It wasn't about grabbing any stone and finishing the job as quickly as possible. Quality matters to them. It was about finding the right stone for each spot in the wall. Our neighbors also observed the men stepping back to assess their work, and like us, they could appreciate the craftsmenship. I also appreciated that these men seem to truly enjoy working together. That seems rare these days. They laugh, enjoy listening to music while they work, and just have a good time producing a quality product. They were gentlemen, and a pleasure to have on our job site. Our job looks beautiful and all of us are hard pressed to tell it isn't real stone. If you want quality work at a fair price, this company is the one to hire. I appreciate quality work and this company receives my best recommendation. <br />"

"The title should be "Who Ya Gonna Call ?" <br /> 1:30 am Friday Night  { technically Saturday morning } and no running water in the house. <br /> A  house full of people, including an infant and house guests coupled with our need to be away from the house in the morning created quite a problem. <br /> We called all of the local plumbers - answering machines,,, then i remembered that the HVAC guy Kevin Carparo was also a plumber. <br /> Ring ring and his wife answers the phone. I sheepishly asked, is it really true that you have 24/7 service?   With what seemed like a smile, she said yes , and I asked to speak to Kevin.  Hmmm seemed like he was enjoying his sleep.  Best i figured was that at least he would come out during the weekend SOMETIME.  He asked if it was an emergency and i said well i guess that is based on how your define it, but no .the house has not floated away, but it is a problem for us. <br /> He said no problem i will be right out.  BTW he lives about an hour away. <br /> Sure enough he shows up in an hour - bright eyed and smiling..  <br /> We go thru the paces of tracking down the problem and it turns out he has to go outside in the rain at 2:30 in morning to completely strip and re-work the wiring in the pump outside.  By 4:30 I get the high sign and we turn the water on.  Prettiest  sight i had seen  in a long time.  Water flowing from the faucets. <br /> What more can  i say.. Incredible service hardly does just to this miracle man. <br /> Thanks <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Ostrander Construction has been the best business we have worked with by far. They were polite and very easy to work with. They arrived on time and did the job better than we expected it. Dan went above and beyond by painting a spot on my wall that I couldn't reach myself. I would highly recommend Ostrander Construction and look forward to working with them again."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Lake Ariel, PA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
