"I own residential property in Chicago which is over 100 years old and once had beautiful hardwood floors throughout. However, by the late 2010s, the floors were sadly past their prime and those glory days were but a distant memory. Over a century of neglect, changing tastes, and numerous remodels, past owners took the easy way out by replacing missing sections of flooring with plywood, ignoring basic upkeep, and simply covering up the damage (aka their crimes) with wall-to-wall carpet. Blasphemy I say! This trend shall have no place in a city where Mike and his team from Mike's Hardwood Flooring heroically fight back restoring one hardwood floor at a time! Every week, they courageously repair the damage caused by the cheap landlords and cut-rate contractors from Chicago's dark past! Lol...in all seriousness, I've used Mike several times now to refinish my existing hardwood floors as well as repair hardwood flooring that was damaged decades ago and hidden by carpet. I'm anti-carpet / pro-hardwood floor :) Over the past few years, Mike has restored all of the hardwood flooring in my own home as well as in several of my rental units to their former glory! As for Mike himself...he's responsive, knowledgeable, forthright, kind, and down-to-earth. Despite my eagerness to restore as much of the original wood as possible, Mike will actually take the time to discuss options and do a cost-benefit analysis (including the extent/history of damage, type of wood, the science, and labor involved, etc.). Although much of my original flooring remains, it could not always be done economically. Mike doesn't try to upsell you and rightfully steered me towards a less expensive option (of new hardwood) for a better result two weeks before posting this review. Which I very much appreciated! And the same can be said of his team as well, including George and Francisco, who go to great lengths to ensure that the floor you want is the floor you get (i.e. making sure you know what you can and can't do during the first few days after they finish). Included below are several before and after pictures and the results speak for themselves! I was particularly impressed how Mike and his team were able to beautifully restore the original wood on a set of stairs that were covered in a layer of tar (no idea why) and carpeted over. "Excellent Floor Installation & Staining Marcel and his Team did an excellent job installing and staining my floors! I recently purchased a condo and the floors were very creaky and not the color I wanted. After contacting Marcel, he quickly came to my place to give a quote. "Large 1st floor project. Entry way, hall closet, kitchen, powder room, living room and dining room - team installed luxury vinyl planks throughout. Also they installed 1/4 round trim to replace old trim. Job was estimated to take 2 day and they did complete on time. Also they did not try to sneak in charges or change the estimated price. I will use them again for my upstairs rooms. 100% satisfactory work."

"Mike was outstanding. I cannot express how good he is. Attention to details, on time each day, goes above and beyond. With no help from me he moved all then furniture, placed old carpet underneath so as not to scratch new floors, placed every piece of his equipment on top of some sort of protector. He tied up the old carpet easy for trash pickup, He didn't make one mistake, floors look and feel amazing. He went to the store each morning before 8 to get trim or transition pieces that I failed to get when I bought the flooring, he even picked up the flooring after I picked it out. "Ceaser and his brother were amazing! Another flooring vendor dropped the ball, and they were able to step in and get the job done in just three days - quote, sample and installation. They were very professional, responsive and kept us updated on the progress and status of the job. They jumped through hoops to make this happen for my parents, and we all couldn't be happier. Ceaser even went out of his way to my parents' current home to personally thank them. He even climbed up on the tractor to shake my dad's hand when the job was complete. Even though they are in northern Illinois, I know I will be recommending them to anyone who has a remodeling or flooring job. Thank you!"

"Wizard of Wood Floors did an awesome job! They were efficient, on time and did everything that was promised. We had new floors installed in our family room and hallway. Our existing floors in the dining room and kitchen were refinished to match the new floors. They did a great job in putting up plastic to contain the dust in the rooms that were not being done. Even after they left everyday, they cleaned everything up so we could function in our home. It was a big project, but well worth it. The end product was absolutely beautiful and we couldn’t be happier with our floors. 6 months after our floors were installed, we noticed a splinter in the floor in our family room. I called the owner, Mike Galloway to let him know. Him and his team immediately got back to me and within 2 days the splinter was repaired and my floor looks as good as new. That is true customer service!!"
