"Sunivation was our hero! When our original solar panel company, Sun Power, went out of business we did not have anyone to service or repair our system. Tim and Sunivation came to the rescue. He was able to find our problem within minutes, install replacement parts, and had our system up and running in no time. Not to mention the original defective parts he replaced just about started a fire. He was professional, polite, and informative. From now on Tim and Sunivation will be my first call whenever I have an issue with my solar panels. Thanks for everything Tim!"

"We bought a house that had a generator on the property. The previous owner bought it through Kapital Electric and had an annual maintenance agreement with them, so we sort of just "took over" and continued using them for maintenance.
The maintenance went well - there wasn't really anything wrong with the generator, so the technician just inspected everything, changed oil and spark plugs. He did a good job though of explaining how things work, since we weren't involved in choosing the generator and weren't around for the installation - basically, didn't know much about it.
The only blemish was the initial scheduling - the first time when we had the appointment scheduled and I took time off work to be there, the technician was delayed at previous appointments (as it turned out later) and never made it to our house. And no one called us to let us know, nor did anyone answer the phone when we tried to call the business towards the end of the window when they were supposed to come.  On the first day for which we wanted to have the appointment rescheduled no one was available, so we rescheduled for a week later from the original date. After that though, everything went fine, with email reminder/confirmation from them a couple of days before the appointment and a courtesy call from the technician when he was already on the way. So I'd assume that the initial scheduling incident was a hiccup, and would still use them in the future.

"Fantastic! Steve, Cody and the guys were absolutely the best to work with. We chose Solar Plus USA over a couple other providers as a result of Steve coming over to see the house in person early on (most solar installers will only look at a Google Maps picture), being very knowledgeable about the materials and the process, and presenting the best plan for the solar panel layout. Steve was on the level the entire time, never overselling anything or making promises he didn't keep. Permitting and installation went as smoothly as possible. We would absolutely recommend Solar Plus USA to anyone interested in installing solar panels."

"Murphy's did a fantastic job and worked with us to ensure we got the siding and roof that we wanted and that would look best. They were timely, professional and very nice to work with. Along with fantastic service, they took the time to talk with us and were very personable which is sometimes lost in today's world. They were great, I highly recommend them and will definitely do business with them and recommend them to friends, family and anyone looking for a great company providing great service."

"I wasn’t even thinking about solar panels until Trevor educated me. He was very efficient in the entire process. I had no idea how much I’ll actually save in the long run when it comes to solar."

"Short Story: It went alright. They sent out a technician to evaluate the situation, and took about a half hour to isolate the issue, charged for the service call plus a hour of labor, and provided a quote to repair the AC. Long Story: Very professional customer service when you call in. I called, scheduled my original appointment, but cancelled, and they were very understanding and receptive. They provided UPFRONT PRICING, $75 for a service call, $80 an hour for labor, and provided pricing per pound for different types or refrigerant. A very knowledgeable and straightforward team which is great when you are trying to price out a repair. We scheduled a technician between 12-2, but they called before 2 and notified us they were running late and advised 3-4. The technician called in and echoed the same statement but showed up at about 4:30, which is understandable on a 90 degree day. Very professional and upfront technician, in an unmarked vehicle, showed up and discussed the process. He explained a similar pricing model, but started discussing a testing fee of $300 dollars, but waved the fee after speaking to his company. He took about an hour to isolate the issue and call in and discuss the matter with his company and provided an up front estimate of the repair cost (refrigerant, labor, valve replacement, etc.). $155 for the initial service call, electronic emailed receipt, and the company called me back with a full estimate (more detailed) shortly after he left and scheduled a technician to come next week as they didn't have the parts on hand. I will post again when I finally get this system fully repaired."

FAQs for solar panels for electric system repair projects in Lake In The Hills, IL

Solar panels are fairly low-maintenance, but they do need occasional attention. A quick wash a couple of times a year and a yearly professional inspection help maintain efficiency. Watch for cracked glass, loose wiring, or hail damage; small fixes cost far less than waiting until output drops. If a panel is badly shattered, replacement—handled by a licensed pro—is often the smarter call.

Most panels last 25 to 50 years, so replacement is rare. Swap them out only when output drops noticeably, the warranty has run its course, or storm damage makes repairs impractical. Track your production data; if efficiency continues to slip even after minor fixes, it’s time to consult a solar installation professional and consider replacing a panel.

Homeowners are accountable for solar panel repairs unless their system is under a leasing agreement. Warranty coverage may reduce repair expenses for specific components. Warranty protection covers repairs when panels fail due to installation errors or unexplained issues. However, if a unit cracks due to an impact, the homeowner is responsible.

Always contact your installer and review your warranty before initiating repairs. Many manufacturers offer warranties ranging from 10 to 20 years. Inverters have a 10-year warranty, panels carry a minimum five-year workmanship warranty, and the overall system is protected for 25 years.
