"I got estimates from several companies but Bluestone was the only one that actually came to my house to look at it. Ron was my estimator and he did a great job explaining what they would do and answering all the questions I had about the job. Bluestone had the lowest bid with the Angie's list discount (was in the very middle of the three without it) so I went with them. They were able to schedule it for the following week. Will and his crew were here a few minutes before 7 am, and he took plenty of time to go over the work site with me and show me what they were going to do. They were all super professional, did what looked to me like a great job isolating the room and were ready for the air testing guy (who I had hired myself but they communicated with as far as timing when he needed to be there) by early afternoon. It passed the air clearance test and they quickly broke down the worksite. I had been worried about yucky black mastic getting splashed onto things but the room is actually quite clean and is waiting for step two of this process - the waterproofers."

"This company is great to work with. They did some mold testing on parents’ home and did excellent work. They also did some work on my home. They replaced a water heater and bathroom fans. He was easy to get a hold of, personable and come over right away."

"It was amazing! I needed this to happen fast as we were in the middle of redecorating. I called Kevin at 9:o0 and he said he could be there at 10:30. He showed up, did 8 samples from various materials and had my answer the next day by 2:30pm. Thankfully, I had no asbestos and my mind cleared and I was very happy. He told me the cost of simply getting a removal permit in Cook County and I was very thankful I spent the $500 for the service including 8 samples tested. Kevin charges $300 plus $25/sample. I had 8 areas that needed it. The best $500 I ever spent. I called other services that wanted $450 to come out plus the $25/sample. Kevin was fast and priced well."

"Stat Analysis was very efficient, quick and inexpensive. We put an offer on the house. The house inspector found granular material in the attic crawlspace and suggested that we get it tested for asbestos. Since we only had 2 days left in our attorney and inspection period we needed quick turn around for the testing. I researched on Angie's list. I called Stat Analysis based on other member ratings as well as they were very close to where we live currently. They stated that they could test and give us a report in 4 hours from drop off. They were very quick and professional. They called us within a couple of hours to give us a verbal report and sent the written report via email by the end of the day. They were a great service."

"Excellent...He located the areas to be treated and treated them and came back the following day and tested the areas again... the cost was reasonable compared to other quotes i received. ThankS Michael i will definitely use you again???"

"Don's attitude and work ethic are outstanding -- if only all contractors were so willing to make sure that you are 100% satisfied! He and his staff helped mitigate a lengthly list of lead paint issues in our vintage condo under extremely short time constraints. They worked long hours, as well as over both days of a weekend, in order to accomodate my family's schedule. That alone would be worth high marks, but Don consistently demonstrated that he was willing to go the extra mile, always answering a question about "oh, and can we address this?" with an unqualified "Yes", even though we might not have noticed the issue before the contract was signed and work began, and never with an extra increase in cost. Thank you, Don!"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Lake In The Hills, IL

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
