"Time consuming but worth it. They understood Ann Arbor's local ordinances better than any other bidder, and were the most competitive bidder (if not by much, but they still were the lowest bidder). They made multiple trips to ensure the estimate was accurate and took pains to find a fencing solution that would comply with Ann Arbor's convoluted rules, yet be both functional and aesthetic. Multiple install trips as well, to deal with tree removal issues and weather problems. Final installed fence is beautiful. We likely will follow up because the locks installed on the two gates installed are proving difficult to manage, but I fully expect this issue to be resolved satisfactorily. (We have not yet contacted them about this, so it's not their fault that this issue remains unresolved - it's been a complicated year for us and, having worked with them, we trust in their ability to resolve this concern later. If we are wrong about this, we'll follow up on our review.) We found Upright Fence through Angie's List, and it was a good recommendation. We would do it all again exactly as it happened if given the option. We are so relieved to have the old, collapsing wooden fence removed and a new, vinyl fence - properly installed along the lot boundaries. Our thanks to the Upright team...we can understand why they've been in business so long. Experience does indeed count for something."

"M. Bland did a terrific job. Very responsive to emails, phone and texts and kept us up-to-date on permit, materials, weather delays. Showed up on day he indicated and worked until job was finished. Very conscientious with work, every day ended with him using power blower to clean up any sawdust or other materials. We would definitely recommend as the final install looks great and gates work well. All this after three years of trying to find a competent fence installer that would do what they said. "They arrived on schedule and gave me a written estimate along with a time for their return and installation. They returned on schedule and installed a beautiful gate. The only hitchwas a short piece of fencing that had been removed between my gatye and my neighbors house and not replaced at the time my gate was installed. I called their attention to it and the boss came out an talked to my neighbor and made a new portion to replace the opne removed. The new section is outstanding and much better than the old one. "I’m beyond amazed. Carl is very calm, very nice and very professional. I paid the remaining of the balance as soon as the job was done but before the inspection was completed because Carl lives about 45 mins away. I didn’t want him to drive 45 mins back just to get paid. I was a little nervous in what’d happen if the deck didn’t pass the inspection. Would he disappear just like any other contractors? But nope! Carl was there in every step of the way. Our deck didn’t pass the inspection right of the bat and he came back to fix it. Carl also helped me out with material return as well. I wish he lived closer as I still have many projects needing help with. You won’t regret hiring Carl to help you. He’s a rare gem."
