"Initially, I thought it was fine. However, I was very curious why the contractor would not let me talk to the insurance adjuster. He told me to stay in the house and leave everything to him. (RED FLAG) I'm not sure why I let that happen. After the negotiations and the contract was signed, the contractor advised that he failed to charge me for the cost of the chimney. We specifically talked about the chimney cost and how he wasn't putting it in the contract so it wouldn't alert the insurance company (RED FLAG ) He would just charge me another $1200 for the chimney or not do the inside work. At that point, I should have cancelled the contract. The contractor yelled at me that he forgot and he made a mistake. Yelled at me in a very loud voice. He then did that "used car" sales pitch where he has to go talk to his boss and then comes back and sends me an email that they will fix the chimney for free. I spent about twice what my budget was, and I really am mad at myself for failing to get other estimates. That is on me. The roofers put a new roof on - my old roof was less than 5 years old - not sure if a simple repair would have been okay and left a mess in my yard. There was debris from my gutters and little blue things that they use when they replace a roof. I told the contractor that, and he said "the roofers don't make money if they clean up after the gutters and feel it's not their job". Okay, whose job is it? Who did I pay to do a job? Am i supposed to hire someone else to finish up what the roofers left behind. My pet peeve is when I pay someone to do a job, and they don't finish the job and say it's not their job. That makes me so angry. Again, I'm so mad at myself. I know better. I just felt like at the end of the day I was taken advantage of. I don't think I needed a whole new roof, I spent twice the money I had budgeted, and I had a mess to take care of. I use Angie's List so I can avoid being taken advantage of and considered the "old lady" who doesn't know anything."

"They upsold me on gutters and windows. One section of the gutter is not right. They have a hole just going from one section of the roof right onto the shingles and it backs up with leaves. The roof is great. The windows are already falling apart and I really wish they were installed better. Pretty janky install. Just cut out the ole windows and put new ones. While covering the wood trim with vinyl trim. Didn’t matter that the wood is rotten underneath. Yeah well. I won’t be in this house forever. "

Even throughout a global pandemic, an unusually rainy March and a ruptured appendix, the job site was always buttoned down and watertight before the crew left for the day. Brent suggested that oversized gutters and downspouts might be an open for my home given the size and pitch of my roof since I was replacing them anyway. He was right and they look great. I wasn't aware there were larger gutters even available. Brent also took it upon himself to go above and beyond by ordering matching black drip edge and vent pipe housings to match my shingle color. The roof and gutters look great and I get compliments regularly on it."

"As the saying goes you can only have 2 out of the following three: great work, fast completion, or a great price. Power does great work and they are efficient, completely replacing my roof in a day, but they are EXPENSIVE-- well above the average price. They do give a 50 year guarantee on their work and it is transferable. If they were 30% cheaper, I would use them again in a heartbeat."

"This was out first experience with JB West Roofing. Our first contact was with Rachel Lange, she was professional and answered all of the questions we had regarding our damaged roof. Rachel was very knowledgeable about the entire roofing process, and in my opinion exactly the type of employee I would want contacting customers and representing my company. We decided to install the brand new Owens Corning Duration Flex shingle, which is wind rated for 130+ mph. Virgillio Martinez was our project manager during the install process, and his install team was exceptional. From the moment he arrived on site, he explained the entire process and his crew was amazing. One the first day the old roof was ripped off, and they cleaned the roof of all debris just like it was brand new sheathing. The install of the ice shield and synthetic underlayment was quick and exact, I can tell you this crew knew exactly what they were doing. The shingle install process was started on day one, and fully completed on day two. Even during this time frame they had to compete with a significant wind, but you could tell that they had been faced with this before and it was no problem. As far as the product, it has only been on our roof for less than a week but I can tell you that the roof looks great and the sealing strip on the shingles is very aggressive which provides for an amazing seal. Virgillio explained that this was probably one of the first roofs in Indiana that had the Owens Corning Duration Flex shingle installed, and he was impressed with the quality and flexibility of the shingles. JB West Roofing didnâ t pay me a dime to write this review, but I like to pass on to other potential customers my experiences, either good or bad when dealing with contractors. There are a lot of fly by night so called contractors out there that may sound like a good deal. I can tell you from personal experience JB West is not in that category, they are professional roofers that focus on customer service. If you want someone that keeps their word, know how to install a professional roof with an experienced team then I can absolutely recommend them."

"He inspected entire area around the chimney. Found a few spots that could be the leak source so he repaired all of them. Carefully removed the old shingles, put down a rubber membrane snow and ice barrier and then put down new shingles. So far problem seems to have been resolved. He is very meticulous in his work and does whatever is necessary to do the job right. Would definitely hire again."
