"Nick reviewed our problem, recommended a solution, provided the estimate and did the final testing. Technicians Therah and Tyrone did all the prep-work and cleanup. All were professional. We had other estimates, one similar and one much higher. Glad we chose Dry Effect."

"Brett was ready for the to first before I was. . He came when he said he would. Several visits were required for testing, identifying the source and treating/ cleaning it. Brett went beyond our expectations and was pleasant to work with. We will have him back in a few months to retest, but the improved air quality is noticeable. I highly recommend him and 12 stones."

"We went to Pella Windows And Door Showroom - Montgomery last fall.  We were charged $100 per opening for the lead, they technically did not do lead abatement.  For the lead treatment what they did do.  We had six openings so it was $600.  The experience was mediocre.  Other Angie members need to know what the details of how they are going to do the work that they are going to do."

"We had a property under a lease to own agreement that fell through. When we reclaimed the house we discovered that the air handler system in the attic had leaked and done tremendous water and mold damage throughout the house ? extending into the finished basement. It wasn?t covered by our insurance. We received 3 consultation estimates. Shane and his team at 1st Call Disaster Services were definitely the most thorough and professional of the three. We chose them to do the repairs b/c they could handle not only the mold issue, but the reconstruction and remodeling necessary to put the house back on the market. <br /> Throughout the process I was very happy with Shane?s friendly demeanor and availability. He was aware of our budget and tried his best to work within our means to get us everything we hoped for. We had extensive work done. Damaged drywall and carpet were removed. Mold was treated in both the main floor and the basement. Drywall repairs were made to the ceiling and walls on the main floor, as well as walls in the basement level. A new ceiling was put in our basement level main room and bathroom, as well as new carpet on the basement level. We also had the entire house interior repainted. I have to admit I was surprised at the length of time it took (home improvement shows make it look so easy!), but I can?t argue with the results. The house looks amazing ? better than it did before the damage. I would definitely recommend 1st Call Disaster Services! <br /> <br />"

"We had used BTS for the kitchen remodel at our previous home and knew that if we needed work done in the future, we would not hesitate to use them again. And they did not disappoint with the work at our new home! Everything was beautifully done (no detail overlooked), Bob and his crew were wonderful to work with and always professional, and the everything was completed following the budget and in a timely manner. I'm sure we will be calling them again!"

"<p>Others had tried to remove this stain unsuccessfully with power washers.  Mark Anderson (CEO) provided a bid with a couple of options and recommended the cheaper of the two (sand blasting).  It worked very well.  The resulting epoxy covering wasn't a perfect texture, so another coat was applied and the results were very satisfactory.</p> <p>Appreciate Mark's coming by to inspect the work and following up to make sure the results were satisfactory.</p>"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Latonia, KY

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
