He figured out an ingenious way to hoist the heavy door to the second floor, and very skillfully and quickly adjusted the frame to fit the door, and affixed the heavy-duty hinges. And for the first-floor door, he figured out a way to repair the existing frame (rather than replace it), thereby saving me hundreds of dollars. All the work was done to a very high standard by a skilled professional who worked quickly and efficiently. And the price-tag for all this was remarkably low -- only a third the price I'd been quoted by another local handyman firm. I found that United Freight's rates were extremely competitive and were one of the very few companies that could guarantee a three-window in which the vehicle would be shipped. Their online tools could use some updating but I got my down payment receipt and document copies all emailed to me which I appreciated. I would have liked a message letting me know they had picked up the vehicle, but the dealership let me know. I was notified when the delivery was an hour away and when they arrived at my location. Overall, I wanted an insured company that could safely transport my vehicle in a timely manner and they did exactly that. My car was scratch-free and looked flawless. "I called Custom Pull Out Shelves to have them quote me on custom pull outs. My intention was to have our kitchen cabinets painted and add new pull outs. After meeting and talking with Tom I ruled out having the cabinets painted and started seriously looking into having them refaced. I searched Angie's list for three companies that refaced cabinets and setup interviews with all three. Tom from Custom Pull Outs was by far the most knowledgeable and professional. I felt no pressure to sign a contact or commit to anything at any time. The one thing that sold me was that all the work would be done by employees of CPOS not subcontractor.  It was a pleasure dealing with a company that takes the customers satisfaction very seriously. <br />"

"The out of pocket cost to me was through a special offer here on Angie's List.  I paid $199 for $500 of custom closet shelving for up to 6' of closet space.  That was the wording of the deal. And an additional $75 for a slight alteration to the prefabricated design. <br /> Installation took just under 2 hours.  They did slightly alter to my specifications and cut to fit my closet space, as the width is under 6 feet, at about 4' 8".  I opted to install two shelves on the left of the standard design instead of having two hanging bars, one above the other.  There was an additional charge of $75 for this change. <br /> Be prepared to do all the prep work before they arrive to do the installation (removal of any shelving, hanger pole, etc).  They will do the removal for you for an extra charge.  So that is up to you.  I opted to do it myself and while it is not impossible, it's not exactly easy to do either.  Be sure you take your time so you don't mess up your walls any further.  And be sure to paint the walls in the closet beforehand, because you definitely won't be able to do so afterward.  <br /> The workmanship was very good and the space now works better for my needs.  The scheduler, owner and installer were very helpful and professional.  I would definitely consider hiring again in the future. <br />"

"John Doering, the home inspector who operates DIR Home Inspections, was really good at walking around the property, asking questions and providing a pretty complete explanation of whatever I asked about as he toured my home for the inspection. He clearly separated things that were important to do from things that were less important, and that allowed me to schedule a few repairs and fix-ups/maintenance jobs in good weather. For one or two maintenance activities where I was considering a pretty costly replacement or repair, he suggested ways to tackle them that turned out to be much less expensive and complicated. His background in construction gives him great ability to distinguish situations that may have some structural significance from those that only require some cosmetic improvement. John was a pleasure to deal with -- his advice onsite plus his written report were excellent!"

"A 2:30 AM kitchen faucet overflow caused extensive water damage to the kitchen floor and adjacent floor and wall areas, as well as extensive water damage to the furnished areas of the basement below. An initial (panicked!) call to S.T.O.P. (after finding them on Angie's List) received a prompt, courteous reply from Denise of S.T.O.P. We arranged for the company to come out and investigate the situation. Phil and his team from S.T.O.P. arrived promptly as agreed, and immediately set out to start the cleanup/demolition phase. Over the next several days, they expertly examined all affected areas, removed water-soaked wall, ceiling, and floor components, went through all the belongings and effects, removing the destroyed items, and relocating others to dry areas. They then set up drying apparatus and fans and allowed the areas to dry out. S.T.O.P. personnel carefully removed all detritus every day they were there, and were extremely respectful of our frazzled emotions and wishes. During this phase, Phil also assisted us in making contact with appropriate professional people to assist in contacting and managing the homeowner's insurance claim. When the demolition phase was complete, we contracted with S.T.O.P. to perform the rebuild phase. Although this phase took a while longer than we initially expected (due to some delays in acquiring replacement materials and some scheduling challenges), Phil and his S.T.O.P. team performed their tasks above and beyond our expectations. The kitchen floor was replaced and ather adjacent area were completely and professionally repaired to our complete satisfaction. Every detail was attended to with polite, competent attention. In the basement, wall and ceiling area were replaced with an amazing effort to match the original and adjacent undamaged areas. Carpeting was replaced and correctly installed iin the furnished areas, and shelving was installed to replace the original shelves and cabinets. When the work was finished, a cleaning service came in to clean the entire basement area. Phil and his S.T.O.P. team made every effort above expectations to answer all questions and attend to all details to ensure our complete satisfaction. For an extremely trying experience, these fine people were outstanding in every aspect, and completely satisfied our every need. They are of the finest quality.!"
