"Gary was very prompt at calling me for the initial contact. He came out and gave me a very reasonable estimate and was able to schedule me to stretch the carpet that has buckled in my four year old home at a time that was convenient for my schedule. He did a very professional job with a guarantee included. I have already given his name to friends and neighbors. I look forward to using him to clean my carpets in the future and would like to try him on my upholstered furniture also."

"Travis was very responsive in scheduling bid with us. He worked with our schedule to meet, was punctual and offered a detailed bid with fair pricing. He delivered lumber when he said he would and gave us time to prime the quarter-round pieces for baseboards prior to installation (my husband wanted to do himself to save a little money). Our job included installing carpet in a living room area on main floor and hall area upstairs. Bid included installing hardwoods, sanding, staining, and finishing with 3 coats of poly. Our bid also included moving furniture in and out as needed, pulling and disposing of carpet and pad that had been in these areas and installing new base to surrounding trim work. Travis also sent a carpet installer after top poly coat was dry to tuck carpet at top hallway bedroom doorways as well as at hardwood lip in living room over basement stairs. The beveled hardwood lip done over our basement stairway looks really nice, by the way!
We were told up-front how many days the project would take and everything started and ended exactly as forecast.
Travis and his crew are absolute professionals. We had to be in and out and I felt 100% confident in letting his crew work without us there. The guys were pleasant and very respectful of our home and family.
The job they did - GORGEOUS and FAST. I admit I was glad I was home for watching much of the living room hardwoods go down. The installers are obviously very experienced. They work fast, but with meticulous detail...everything was measured carefully and details were scrutinized. They took a lot of pride in their work.
We are AMAZED by two things in particular - 1. How CLEAN the process was (seriously close to dust free, though they did tarp off doorways to protect our home) and 2. How they MATCHED dead on our existing hardwoods on the main floor.  We actually had many other flooring companies that wouldn't take on the job at all without quoting refinishing all of our main floor hardwoods. This living area was the only area carpeted. The rest of our hardwoods are in great shape and we couldn't understand why other companies were afraid to take it on. Travis' crew asked us in advance, working with our schedule, to make sure one of us was home to view stain samples and approve the color. They mixed up several stain blends, scrutinized, narrowed it down to two, and the crew and I selected the winner. They opened blinds, turned on and off lights, the works. They truly wanted to get it RIGHT and they did.
Without hesitation we would recommend this contractor to friends and already have. We look forward to hopefully replacing more areas upstairs with hardwoods, when the budget allows, and hope we can work with this company again.
One tip - Travis is very responsive by phone, but if you are like me and have odd times you are able to talk on phone/hate playing phone tag...he's happy to text. He and I used text messaging for the bulk of our communication at my initiation and it worked out great.

"Gary was great to work with. He brought samples of carpet to the initial appointment, and helped guide us in our selections. I spoke to several on his list of installers, trying to find one to fit our schedule. They all seemed professional and eager to help. The day of installation, the installers got a late start, and then got lost on the way to my house. That was the only snag. They worked swiftly to install, and the carpet looks great. I am very pleased with the whole experience."

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Leawood, KS

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
