"When my hot water heater went out on a Friday, I called Geiler Home Services.  Ryan scheduled an appointment for early Monday. He offered to send someone out sooner but I was happy with Monday.  I was afraid to leave the gas on  over the weekend. Owner, Terry Gellenbeck, called and reassured me I could turn it to off. <br /> On Monday morning, Dennis arrived as scheduled and replaced the thermo coupler.  I expected a new waterheater.  My heater is over 15 years old.  But, Dennis quickly fixed the heater and the charge was only $149.00!    I know this will probably add a year or two before a replacement and that's good for me. <br /> I'm used to much higher plumbing prices.  I'd  prefer to go to the dentist than call the plumber I've used for years.  So expensive.  However, the three men from Geiler were great.  I'm looking forward to using their services in the future.  I will request Dennis and thank him for such good service. <br />"

"<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"The guys called before coming over and were on time. They introduced themselves and quickly got to work unloading equipment and moving any items that needed to be moved (with approval, of course).  <br /> They were very efficient with their work and took just under 4 hours to complete the entire installation. There were no surprise fees and everything went smoothly.  <br /> They came back a couple days later to get the radon test that they left in basement and reported results within a few business days. <br /> No hesitation in recommending them again! <br />"

"SWAT installed a radon mitigation system in our house as we are selling it and the buyers requested this after inspection. I had trouble getting in touch with other companies to provide the service and the other bids I had were much higher. SWAT answered their phone right away, gave me a quote on the phone (which was the exact amount I was charged) and scheduled to come out at my earliest convenience. The technician called when he was about half an hour away to let me know he would be there soon. He was courteous the whole time he was there. The only downside was that the installation took a long time, but that seems to be because of the dirt under our foundation that was difficult to dig through. They spent all day working on installing the system at no extra charge for the added hours. Also, I should note the price we paid included installation of the system and laying plastic sheeting over about 200 square feet of dirt crawl space. In my quote they said they would beat any competitors quote and with the great service we received, I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing to put in a radon mitigation system. <br />"

"My husband and I were doing an interior remodel of a wood stove surround and found an active leak behind our tear down that was leaking in under the insulation. Our first and only thought was that we had a roof leak on a 3 year old roof (we have only owned the house 11 months). Then we noticed water damage in a closet as well.. We called Loy-Quinn and Mr. Quinn came out to take a look & give us a FREE estimate. He came out and told us there is NOTHING wrong with our roof. Our chimney needs tuck pointed and that is where the water is coming from. He said we could, for added security around our chimney after we have it repaired, install a chimney cricket and that they would replace the flashing around the chimney at the same time and it would help ward off possible future problems but we didn't HAVE to do it. We could have been thousands deep into this if this company were not honest. We will be having Loy-Quinn install the cricket after we fix our chimney issue. We couldn't have asked for a better experience"

"While selling one house and buying another, both homes had high radon levels.  My real estate agent recommended SWAT for our for-sale home and I wasn't disappointed.  Ross was our technician and he did an awesome job!  He was very cautious, considerate and clean.  His attention to detail was great and his workmanship was superior.  Installing the system is very labor intensive and dirty.  Ross cleaned up his mess and left no tracks.  A week later, our radon level tested below the national recommendations.  I used Ross and SWAT at our new home and, while the foundation and system installation was different, his workmanship was not.  I would definitely recommend SWAT and Ross to my neighbors. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Lexington, IN

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
