Here at Monarch Pool Services, we pride ourselves on our professionalism, as well as our ability to complete every job to the homeowner's total satisfaction. We never leave a job unfinished, or a homeowner not 100% satisfied with our level of service. We handle pool work in Austin and the surrounding areas. Call today!
"I hired Monarch to maintain my pool starting Jan 1, 2024. In March I emptied my 8900 gallon pool and acid washed it. A month later I had black algae in my fountain. This remained for weeks. Sean finally told me to call someone else to get rid of it. The calcium level two months after refilling my pool with fresh water was 201ppm. In August Sean tested my pool. This was the result according to a test he sent me: For calcium, I got 1025, but I am not sure how accurate that is. When I ask more about it, he had no explanation. Another time he cleaned my filter and forgot to connect the hose. Another time he turned off the valve that runs my fountain, When I called he told me he had no idea what the problem was. The fiasco led to replacing a $500 valve when he was the one who wrongly turned it off . The final straw was he cleaned my pool filter (less than a year old filter). And it was so saturated with shock that it ruined the filter. in addition, when he took the filter out, he broke the filter core and lef the broken base wedged in the unit. My concern is that he NEVER took responsibility for his mistakes or any of the damage he caused. As a result Ihad to replace over $900 worth of items. He also has a picture on his web site of my pool which I have asked him to remove. I would NOT recommend his services."

"POOLIE will ruin your water, making it unsafe to swim in, then tell you to drain it. The reason they use the "One-Price-Fits All" sales pitch is because they use the cheaper chlorine tablets in your pool other than liquid chlorine. The tabs contain Cyanuric Acid (CYA) and in a couple of months, the CYA level gets much too high, which makes the chlorine tabs much less efficient. The only way to get rid of CYA is to drain the pool. Also, they skipped my pool 4 times in the last 3 months, almost starving out the new pump they installed in February. I took a water sample of my green pool water to Leslie's last week, and ONLY ONE chemical was in balance. I looked back over 10 months of POOLIE'S service reports, using Leslie's guidelines. My pool chemistry was NEVER completely in balance. Leslie's report said the water was unsafe and corrosive. No wonder I need to drain my pool and replaster it. POOLIE just bought out SCOTCH POOLS in November. Former SCOTCH POOLS customers should BEWARE!"

"Everything seemed to be going alright. Chris showed up on time and gave me an estimate to replace my skimmer, which I agreed to. The next day a manager came over to look. He told me they could also replace my auxiliary pump. I asked some questions about that and he said to purchase my own pump to save money. I did, then was told they would not install the pump since I did not purchase it from them and they would not be able to warranty the motor. The motor comes with a warranty and the instructions state it is only to be installed by a pool professional. The office even quoted me an installation price. When I called to schedule the install, they would not do the job. I was told the employees must have been mistaken about this service. The skimmer project turned out. A plumbing crew showed up without calling and started working and I was not home. They did not speak English. They got dirt and cement in the pool. There was no follow up call or visit from Blue Ocean."

We specialize in installing decks, fences, and pergolas. We have the expertise to build everything from a simple privacy fence, to custom decks and pergolas. Our team is skilled and ready to make your vision a reality.
"New 2-story deck missed the mark across code, Trex guidelines, and aesthetics. Poor planning. Won't make it right. We lost 5 figures on a 2-man crew that lacks longevity with owner. Hire inspectors before paying final invoice. FYI “Custom Deck and Fence Austin” also has poor reviews on multiple sites noting owner Todd Louis Ratajik of "Good Day Baked Energy Snacks" (Forfeited Existence). Sites now name “Cesar” as owner. Negative reviews disappeared. AFFD has pending lawsuits with Travis County Courts. Unknown AFFD subcontractor alarmingly used my name and address in another client’s lawsuit w**! Standard: Visual consistency. AFFD: Mismatched railing. Todd’s words: "It's the same railing but pinched." (A contractor’s FB review notes lack of materials to properly complete jobs.) Std: Concrete pad supports stairs. AFFD: Stair stringers hover in air, failing to land on concrete. Todd blatantly texted that stringers would step out (not down) from deck. I refuted the abnormality. Top step was cut off; stringers don’t reach concrete. Instead of extending pad or redoing stringers, an ugly post was set. Std: Stairs treads w/o gaps. No overhangs. AFFD: Stringer cuts forgot stairs' fascia; treads weren’t 11+”. Gaps added to meet code -> stair noses >1.25", ie trip hazards. FYI Use rise-to-run guidelines. Std: 42” deck railings. 34-38” stair railings ABOVE boards. AFFD: 44” deck railings. Didn’t supply 34” stair railings; boards grossly notched to lower height, which start at 44”! Std: Posts sit on existing FINISHED concrete pads. (LOL) AFFD: Post had no contact with pad (after removing makeshift shams to hide the blunder) ie ZERO deck weight on ground. Todd asked if this was okay [to not deal with]. Post not corrected at start. Rough concrete poured atop pad to meet post. Ew. Std: 16" oc MAX joist spacing (Trex specs). AFFD: 7 of 13 spacings are >16". No blocking. Add 1 or 2 joists = ~15.5" or 14" spacings. Todd said his ways are “affordable” and “economical”. Eek. Best: Competitor contracts: "12-in joist spacings", "blocking", “glulam beam”. Std: Trex Cocktail Rail Kit (full-width support, hidden fasteners). AFFD: 5.5" wavy floor boards nailed to 1" rail. Visible screws, rough shavings, corner gaps, no support eg 2x4s to flatten board. No countersunk screws and putty to hide nails. Std: Professional aesthetics. AFFD: Not spraying railing cuts = RUST. No continuity in stairs fascia to meet deck edge. Silver bolts on black railings. Posts unequal distance from deck edges. Cedar’s shorter lifespan requires staining / maintenance < Trex’s composite fascia. Std: Disclosure of unforeseen issues. Protocols. Loyal crews. AFFD: Crew wasted a day plotting makeshift repairs after causing roof damage. Licensed roofer was furious about erroneously-cut flashing. Roofers returned after crew again made damaging cuts where told not to. Zero acknowledgement from Todd. AFFD: Crew noted holes in house’s ceiling after removing joist nails. No repairmen references. Not-our-problem mentality. AFFD: 15+ days by 2 tired guys: the hire + his actual neighbor. Ditto to reviewer compelled to supervise. Days start late, end after 7pm. My neighbors had 5 deck builders who left by 6pm still jolly. AFFD: Non-recyclables in recycling bin. Concrete and stinky liquid in trash bin. Cigarette butts, nails, and construction debris across yard. AFFD: Crew won’t tell owner about gray areas and errors in judgments. One unsure if he'd get paid wth. Std: Professionalism. AFFD: No final walkthroughs. Owner ignores items in emails. Condescending; when I climbed a ladder re an issue (that I called a roofer to fix), Todd muttered that I was “an inspector, eh”. Instead of talking measurements, Todd’s retort was “I’m the owner of a deck company”, as if titles alone grant proficiency. Labor is hired out, crew turnover is high. Workmanship depends on whoever is outsourced, who aren’t deck builders so much as guys who "have built decks before". Expect no corrections on what Todd Ratajik deems as "good enough"."

To maintain crystal-clear water and prolong your pool's lifespan, establish a regular cleaning schedule. Skim the pool for debris and clean the wall tiles every week. Test the pH level every week or every other week to maintain a balanced level of 7. Additionally, vacuum the pool, inspect the equipment, empty the pump baskets, and check the filters every month. Following this routine helps protect your pool’s surface and maintains a consistently healthy swimming environment.
If you've added too much chlorine to your pool, it's important to act quickly. Expose the water to direct sunlight to help break down the excess chlorine, heat the water to accelerate the chemical reaction, and add fresh water to dilute the concentration. You can also apply a chlorine-neutralizing product to bring the chlorine level back to the safe range. These actions maintain water quality and protect both your pool surfaces and swimmers.
One of the easiest ways to save on pool maintenance is to start completing some regular pool maintenance tasks yourself. While more serious repairs should be left to the professionals, routine tasks like skimming your pool to remove debris or checking the pH are tasks that can be accomplished on your own.
The lifespan of your pool is determined by its construction and materials. In-ground concrete pools offer a lifespan of 50 years. Fiberglass pools deliver over 30 years of service. Vinyl-lined pools have a 20-year lifespan with a required liner replacement every six to 12 years. Above-ground pools typically offer a lifespan of eight to 15 years.
It’s best practice to drain and refill the pool every three to five years to maintain the water's purity and flush out accumulated solids. Avoid draining the pool completely, as this can damage the structure. If you're not experienced in pool drainage, it's best to have a pool professional handle the process to protect both your pool and its surroundings.
