"It went so good. When we talked about remodeling our garage, I never imagined that it could end up looking like it does today. It was such a mess, stuff everywhere and so much stuff. Whalen Contracting before they started even moved everything out or to one side prior to starting this nightmare. My husband told them what he wanted as far as the design and that was it. They came here everyday and before we knew it, it was all coming together. Believe me when i say that this job was worth every penny and then some. They put up all new walls because the garage was block which was very cold and drafty and just nasty. A new ceiling was put up first, i believe, then walls , then drywall. The floor had to be grinded as it was concrete and very rough. All the squares that you can see in the pictures were each measured out and taped off after the 3 coats of orange epoxy was applied. Then they painted squares with black exoxy, I think the floor took about 2 weeks to complete. Whalen Contracting suggested that we use t one eleven for the bottom of the walls, which was a great suggestion as you can see in the pictures, how nice they turned out. They put up trim all around the windows, new doors, hung up all the new shelving, new tv. They just went above and beyond what i was expecting. Everything was done by may 5 and we had our first party in this wonderful garage on may 11th. All our friends could not believe it was the same garage. Whalen Contracting did such a great job and i would highly recommend them to anyone. <br /> They are very trusting and honest, which to me, is worth everything. They cleaned at the end of each day. So much was done to this garage that i cannot even put it into words so please see the pictures, as they tell it all <br />"

"My roof was over 30 years old and needed replaced. Roberto came out, looked at my roof and some recommendations. He pointed out that my gutters needed replaced and my chimney needed repaired. His crew came out and had the entire job done in three days. They did a great job and a great clean-up. Everyone was polite and professional."

"All work was done professionally and on schedule. The cathedral ceiling no longer "leaks". A small leak occurred in 2017. Burns & Scalo inspected the roof and repaired some damaged shingles and sealed a pipe flange. Both repairs were in a section of roof not part of the original project. They charged $220 for two men to come out and spend about an hour."

"Gunner Roofing has an excellent team that completed my house siding project. As certified installers of James Hardie, they were professional from start to finish! Andrew was extremely knowledgeable of the product and created a spectacular design and assisted w/ the financing of my project. He was always available to answer all questions. The Project Manager Anthony communicated daily with project updates and was extremely responsive to questions and addressed all concerns in a timely manner. The workers were exceptional as they always arrived early and worked late to ensure completion of the work. Really appreciated their attention to detail! I highly recommend this company!"

"Robert and his team did a great job. They repaired walls and ceilings in 2 closets, 3 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. They were reliable and professional and the cost was very reasonable. I will definitely call them again when we need more work done."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Ligonier, PA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
