It turns out that roofing material and procedures are controlled by both the state and local municipality; this means a permit is required to re-roof a home, there are specific requirements for materials, and a final inspection is required. So there isn't much difference in the end result, regardless of who does the job. I chose West Roofing because their price was about $7,000.00 less than the other proposals I got. They used the same level of roofing material, underlayment, flashing, etc. as the other companies, and the job was done in 2 days by a competent crew who cleaned up everything very well. The final inspection was complete with no problems - after the city inspector arrived about 5 hours late (of course.) Needless to say, I highly recommend West Roofing. If you need to re-roof you'll save time and $ by calling them first."
