"We couldn't be happier with Dominick's carpet stretching and cleaning. Our carpeting in our entire house needed stretching in every room. Angel was on time, worked hard all day stretching out carpeting. He came back the next day to clean our carpets, move furniture, very friendly, plus my carpet looks like NEW, stains gone, bumps gone and very professionally done. His prices are very fair and we highly recommend Dominick's Carpet Stretching and Cleaning."

"We needed our carpet stretched and this company was able to get the job done a week later. The owner hired a very nice contractor to do the job. It was done quickly and he was very thorough. The owner of this company was also able to hire someone to paint the trim of our house at the same time. We are very pleased with the work that was done."

"Top notch. Good at up selling, but we liked what we received. Deep cleaning our carpets were done with a floor scrubber and pads. Very effective. The floor smelled so good. Very strong, though. I can't sleep in there for a while because I get a bad headache from perfume smells. But still very happy. Also had the carpet stretched. They use the latest technology and I will never have to stretch it again!! I am embarrassed to admit it but we had not shampooed it for 4 years and it looks like newer carpet now. This was done 4 days ago. You know, it always look fabulous the first day so I waited to write this review to see how it looks several days later. Highly recommend Pro Carpet Care."

"I looked up highly rated wood floor installation / refinishing companies on Angie?s List near my home and The New Floor Company was one of the three I contacted.  Before I even called anyone, I checked that all the companies had specialty flooring contractors licenses (C15) and that their license and insurance were current on the CA state licensing board.  I wouldn?t go with a general contractor for this work.

Dan came out to my house to do an estimate and gave me a few options as I wasn?t sure yet what should be done about the patch where the floor furnace vent used to be and about refinishing the rest of the wood floors.  He examined the wood floors and took a few scrapings of the wood for testing.  He took the time to explain each option and how much work it could take.  When I got the written proposal later that day, the three options were written clearly from least expensive to most expensive and were easy to understand.  Although he was willing to do the work the next day, I told Dan to wait a few days as I was expecting at least one more quote.  By then, my wife and I decided on interlacing new wood floors at the patched area where the heater floor vent used to be, staining the laced-in wood to match the rest of the floors, and lightly abrading and recoating all the wood floors with polyurethane to give it a fresh new look, which was the mid-priced option.  When asked, he gave a 5% discount for members of Angie?s List.

The other quote came in for the same scope of work and it was not as competitive as Dan?s proposal.  Upon giving the job to The New Floor Company, they started the next day.  Dan was careful in stating that he cannot guarantee a 100% match on the stain of the new and old floors, but upon checking his work in progress, it was apparent that the match will be very good.  They finished the work on the 2nd day and my wife and I were very happy with the results.  I could no longer tell where the two floor vents used to be.  As an artist, my wife is very particular about aesthetics and she couldn?t tell the difference either.  The rest of the wood floors are looking great too.

The New Floor Company does quality work at a reasonable price and I?d hire them again or recommend them to friends and family.

FAQs for carpet repair, refasten, or stretch projects in Long Beach, CA

Removing a rug costs around $0.40 to $0.50 per square foot. This includes the fee for a contractor to roll up the rug and haul it away in a vehicle for disposal or recycling. If they need to move furniture, they might charge an additional $0.25 to $0.30 per square foot of furniture.

If your carpet has minor damage—like a single area that requires stretching, patching, or cleaning—it might be less expensive to pay for carpet repair than remove and replace it. Repairing carpet costs around $210 per project.

The cost of carpet cleaning is about $190 for a three-bedroom home, so it’s a good idea to have your carpet cleaned at least once a year. But most carpeting only lasts 10 years. If your carpet is nearing the end of its life span, it might be more cost-effective to remove and replace your carpet than to clean and repair it. The average cost to install a new carpet is about $1,800.

Search our directory of carpet removal companies and services to find an affordable, screened contractor near you. All HomeAdvisor listings are vetted, reviewed, and rated by homeowners, so you can be sure to find a local pro qualified for your project. Get at least three quotes to compare prices and the timeline for your project.

Commercial carpet removal usually costs on the lower end of the carpet removal price range, around $1.10 per square foot or even less. Carpet installation contractors often offer discounted rates for larger projects, like commercial carpet removal and installation. Similarly, you might be able to negotiate a lower residential carpet removal cost if the carpet is pulled up throughout your entire home.

Most cities accept old carpets as bulk trash, but you may need to schedule a special pickup and prepare the carpet properly. Remove any nails or glue residue, cut the carpet into manageable pieces, and roll and secure them. Alternatively, you can take your old carpet to a local recycling center for a small fee, where it can be processed and repurposed.

Yes, you can remove carpet yourself if you're ready for a labor-intensive task. DIY carpet removal requires heavy lifting and tools like utility knives, pliers, and pry bars. The process is generally straightforward but time-consuming for stapled-down carpet. If your carpet is glued down or you're worried about damaging the subfloor, hiring a professional is best to ensure the job is done safely and efficiently.
