"These guys are awesome. Had a gravel driveway for riding lawnmower installed and decorative rock in the rest of the area. Theses guys show up when they say they will, work hard and clean up after themselves. They are professional and very skilled at what they do. They also helped me repair an area of my drip system without extra charge. Will use these people for the rest of our projects including re-sodding our large yard which will be done in the spring. Highly recommend these guys. Prices were reasonable also."

"I would highly recommend Forever-Green Cali. They are very professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about their profession. After an initial consultation with the owner, John, who provided recommendations based on my vision for my front yard. He made great suggestions that I would never have thought of, which made my yard beautiful and efficient with rocks that I love."

"Mark and his crew did and excellent job with installing pavers in my backyard. He told me it would take 3 days and they were finished in 3 days. They cleaned up after themselves which I have had contractors before leave their empty water bottles and food wrappers behind. Mark and his crew are professional, friendly and hard workers. I had used Mark 13 years ago when I bought this home and they did a great job with the front of the house. It is unrecognizable from what I had purchased. I was so glad he did not retire and was happy that he was still on Angi's list for me to hire. Great work team."

"Listened to our design input and offered alternatives based upon deep knowledge of what plants would do the best in the locations. Attention to detail was great. Even with rain delays project was completed with minimal delays. Important to us for winning the bid was Jacques submitted an itemized bid that detailed costs for labor, materials, plants, sod, disposal etc. and the progress payment schedule. Other bids received would only provide a lump sum for the project and refused to provide further cost details. I would be e reference customer for Jacques Landscaping."

"They did a good job of maintaining the yard and renewing the bark (extra cost) in the first few months.  The lawn continued to look bad and Jose said they would address the lawn the beginning of spring.  In the mean time, the mowers used a sit-down mower on the lawn after a good rain and created ruts in the lawn.  In February they applied seed to the lawn with no preparation and since the lawn is on a slope, we found most of the seed in the gutter or lining the sidewalk near the bottom of the lawn.  By June, most of the lawn was green weeds and very little grass.  Jose accused my renters of not watering the lawn, in which case, everything would have been brown and dying.  The renter was watering 3 times a week in the early AM.   Jose did admit he had not seen the property for several months."

"We hired Ricardo and his crew for backyard landscaping with building of retaining walls, pavers installation, and cement work and trees planting for each side of the backyard. They did an excellent job with the retaining walls and the pavers we decided to have them design and build our front yard landscaping as well. We also have them build a gate for the front porch and a metal screen door for side door. Their brick and metal works were just excellent and the gates were nicely powder coated. Lightings were also installed in the front and back yard. At the end we also have Ricardo built a 8x10 ft shed for us. Everything was done to perfection. One thing that really impressed me about this group was they showed up to work every day when weather permits. Communication was very easy with Ricardo and most importantly the quotes he gave us were more than reasonable. Greystone Landscape is run by an excellent group of people. I will call them again for future projects and will recommend them to my friends with no hesitation."

"The owner Bill was very friendly, personable and "hands on". He took his time and did not rush our job to make sure that our artificial lawns in the backyard were installed correctly and looked great. He was very fair with his price as well which was a big factor in our decision. The only thing that we could fault him on was that the clean up after the job was done was not the greatest. However, we were not around at the time when he finished and if we had expressed any concerns or asked for him to clean up more we are confident that they would have done so. Overall though, we are happy with the end results and the workmanship that he provided."

FAQs for sod installation projects in Loomis, CA

Seeding costs less up front, but you’ll wait months—and sometimes a full season—for the grass to fill in. Sod costs more per square foot, yet it gives you an instant, usable lawn the day it’s installed and needs far less care during the first year.

If speed and early curb appeal matter, the higher sod price is often worth it; if you’re watching every dollar and don’t mind the wait, seed can still be a smart play.

Start by sketching your lawn and breaking it into rectangles or circles. Measure each section, multiply length by width, and then add all the sections together for the total square footage. Standard sod rolls are two feet by 1.5 feet, and one pallet covers 450 square feet.

Divide your total area by 450 to see how many pallets you need, then round up—extras come in handy for cutting around curves or mistakes. Still unsure? A local sod supplier or installer can confirm your math before you order.

Most sod grips the soil within 10 to 14 days. During that stretch, keep foot traffic to a minimum and mow only if the grass gets tall. After two weeks, the roots should be strong enough for light use, but wait six weeks before heavy play or frequent mowing. Giving the grass that short honeymoon helps it anchor firmly and sets the stage for a durable, healthy lawn.

Give your new lawn two full weeks before any foot traffic, then stick to light use only. Hold off on vigorous play, parties, or regular mowing until the six-week mark so the roots can dig deep. Keep watering on schedule and watch for any dry patches. A little patience now means stronger turf and fewer repairs later.

Keep an eye on color, moisture, and even growth. Fresh sod should stay uniformly green; brown spots or gaps hint at dry soil or poor contact. Water deeply at least once a day for the first week (more in hot weather) and back off gradually after the roots take. Avoid heavy foot traffic until the grass feels firmly anchored. Quick attention to trouble spots now prevents costly patches later.

Aim for spring or early fall when daytime temps hover between 55°F and 80°F. Mild weather and consistent moisture help the roots knit quickly. Laying sod in midsummer can stress the grass, while frozen winter soil blocks rooting altogether.

If you must install outside the ideal window, budget extra time for watering and tending to the turf. Choosing the right season makes the job easier and the lawn tougher.
