"They didn't do one thing that I needed done but they didn't quote it either. I mistakenly assumed that it was included, it was edging around the rock beds. For what they actually quoted me on, they did and did well. I realized later that their price was $400-$500 less than the other people. I presume it was because of the edging cost because they quoted me like $450 to do the edging when I approached them later. They kind of disappeared for a while when I was trying to follow up with the edging issue They finally did respond but it wasn't the response I was looking for. I can't rate punctuality, the time they showed up didn't matter. I didn't have any dealings other than with the owner and that was good."

"They took up the carpet throughout the condo and installed chestnut colored laminate flooring.  They also replaced the carpet on the stairs with pine treads and stained the treads to match the laminate flooring.  I really can't say enough about how good the job these guys did was.  From the day Ernie gave me the initial estimate (which matched the final price to the penny) to the day they finished the job took a little over a week.  They originally estimated the job itself would take 3 days, but were able to finish in 2.  These guys did everything they said they were going to do in the exact time frame they said they would do it, left the worksite cleaner than it was when they arrived - and their price easily beat those of the other contractors I got bids from.  I was originally concerned that the laminate flooring would be noisy, particularly because the sub-floor wasn't particularly level and had both high and low spots in it, as well as several squeaky spots.  A & A was able to level out the sub-floor and repair the squeaky spots in it before installing the new laminate. <br /> <br /> The floor looks fantastic and is now both quiet and level.  I would definitely use A & A again. <br />"

"My home is close to the ocean and its siding was starting to deteriorate.  Once again, we called Tom and Mitch to help solve our problem.  We decided that the most cost effective and best way to go was to use vinyl siding.  Although not  fans of vinyl, at our age, we did not want the maintenance of painting and cleaning our old siding which was about 12 different shades due to touch ups and fading.  "Vinyl is final" they say.  Tom helped us pick out a siding that looked almost exactly what was on our home, in the same color.  This is important due to HOAs that sometimes don't like any changes.  It is called Charleston Bead and is made by Certainteed.  This is a very high quality product with features not available in other siding.   After everything was measured out, Tom presented a quote and we looked it over and came to an agreement.  I will say this....Tom and Mitch Metzel are NOT the cheapest guys in town.  If you are looking for a low ball job, don't bother calling these guys.   So we sign the contract, material is ordered and, as usual, Tom and Mitch are at my door at 7AM before I even had my coffee on the day they promised work would start.  Work begins.  Tom has a sub-contractor that actually does the siding.  Knowing the quality of work insisted on by Tom, I have no worries. They work until 7 PM...dumpster on site and even a porta-pottie so they won't disturb us.  The next day, the crew is again on site at 7AM.  By the end of the day, they are finished.  It looks great, heck...it looks better than great.  I note how carefully the work was done around the dormers.  Out standing!   The house gleams with the newness of yellow siding a white trim! An honest to goodness South Kakalaky beach cottage!   <br>The Metzels have done three big jobs for us in the last three years....all new windows and exterior doors, remodel bathrooms, and now this siding job.  Why do we keep going back???  Because we get what we pay for and MORE! <br>If you want to know what kind of job they will do for you, just have them show you the inside of their big work trailer.  All tools put away.  No loose nails or screws to find their way into your tires sometime down the road.  The darn thing looks like an operating room.  Spotlessly clean and everything in its place.  I hate these kind of people for being so organized,   I am still unpacking after moving here 6 years ago.   Here are the advantages of Metzel Home Improvement:  They do not treat you like and idiot and they tell you why they are going to do something and then they do it exactly as they said.  They show up on time, ready to go, which seems to be a BIG problem in coastal SC.  They are nice guys and you can chat it up with them if you want while they are working.  In fact, Tom is a chatterbox. My home is a better place to live since I hired Tom and Mitch, now for the third time.    You want extremely high quality work with a company that will make sure everything is perfect?  Get on the phone and call these guys.    Do it now, because they are booked solid and there is a reason for that."
