"I had a fantastic experience with A&M Electric Appliances Service INC! I called them for help with a malfunctioning appliance, expecting to schedule a service call. Instead, they took the time to walk me through the issue over the phone — patiently, clearly, and with no pressure at all. To my surprise, they helped me solve the problem without needing to come out or charge me a dime. In a time when most companies are quick to bill you for every minute, A&M showed true honesty and integrity. That kind of service is rare and incredibly appreciated. I’ll absolutely be calling them first for any future appliance repairs, and I’ll be recommending them to friends and family without hesitation. Thank you again, A&M — you’ve earned a loyal customer for life!"

"Could not have gone better. All communication setting up the job was clear. They came out to measure and give an estimate. The price was fair. There was no upselling. The job was done for the estimate. The company came with a crew of 4 who did the work professionally, quickly, and cleanly. They ordered the glass ahead of time, and replaced our large bay window without damaging interior or exterior surroundings. They did nice trim carpentry, and matched our paint perfectly. I would certainly use them for large remodel job requiring quality finishes and work."

"I knew I would probably need to replace the dishwasher and I got the confirmation I needed.  A misunderstanding arose concerning whether I would be charged one fee for a review of both appliances or two fees. They agreed to honor what I understood from a telephone conversation that only one fee would cover both."

"Larry is the consummate pro. He's like the Holmes on Holmes of appliance repair. My most recent job (I have used him for 3 years) is the first time he was stumped by one of my appliances. The first solution he thought would work didn't, but then he was at the ready, ordering the correct parts as quickly as possible (My oven is older and harder to get parts for on the fly) and even offering to cover the costs of the first round of parts since they weren't the correct solution. He got it fixed in time for Holiday Entertaining and did it with a smile and a "Merry Christmas".
This is the guy you want coming to your home and fixing what's wrong. He won't make you fix something that isn't broken, he will tell you if it makes more sense to buy something new instead of profiting from fixing your clunker, and if it takes a little longer or comes at an unusual time, he doesn't jack up his prices.
Larry's the best.

"He was good in many ways and so annoying and time consuming in others. The job was finished and it seems to be okay. The agony I went through trying to work with this guy is beyond belief. He didn't charge much but I had to pay him extra. He had to go and buy so may things at the hardware store. I think it was about another $400 worth of stuff I had to pay him for. It took him over 3 weeks to do the job. He wasn't available some of time and I couldn't reach him by phone and he wouldn't call me back. All the time I'm having a door installed and he's out there buying little pieces of stuff he needs and he's doing work somewhere else and he's not calling me back yet I have a front door that is not attached to my door frame. You can imagine how aggravating that was. He would stick the door up but anybody could have pushed it. He did a lot of work. As it turned out, he man was disabled and I didn't catch on to that until I realized he just had a lot of problems getting around. He wasn't honest with me. He did a good job. He was on my front step for 3 weeks so all my neighbor's knew him and he was nice to other people living in my house. I got to know him well during that time but he took a job he never should have taken, it was a big job. I think he might be a good craftsman."

"Two guys showed up, and checked out my clogged sink (which was due to the garbage disposal malfunctioning). First they recommended just unclogging the sink, or using an alan wrench to unlcog the disposal, without really checking to see if the disposal was functional, powering on, etc. When I told them the disposal was actually broken, and asked for an estimate to replace it, they seemed hesitant at first. Then they told me $4-500, then changed it to $400, then when I told them I found a coupon on Angies list, they said $300something, also suggested me buying a disposl myself. Also they went to write out a quote for me and it took them about 25 mins to come back with the it. I thought maybe they just left.....
Other than that the did they install quickly, and professionally, cleaned up after, and the Angie's List coupon saved me $100+...(Thanks Angie!)
Overall I'd give them a B+/A-.

"I am going to give their advice a try, meanwhile I am confident that if I have any further issues Mr Appliance of Malibu will respond quickly and promptly. They have already given me a quote should I need extended services, but I really can't say enough how much I appreciated their honesty in advising me to try and fix it on my own first.

"I hired Yari based on positive Angie's List reviews.  Overall, I'd give him a luke warm rating, and MIGHT use him again, though would probably investigate some other options first.  The work done overall was good, however...

The clean-up was poor.  There was a LOT of small broken tile bits and dust left over after they replaced the kitchen tiles.  I have cats (as they saw), and they could have very easily tracked sharp small bits of broken tile on their paws from the loads of it left on the kitchen floor and in the grooves where the grout is.  When they repaired the broken stucco outside, they left dust and debris at the site and obviously threw the remaining water/plaster/mortar/whatever mix through a fence and into my neighbor's yard (am going to try and attach pix - I think I can do that here).  The price he quoted me was for parts and labor ASSUMING I had all those parts already.  I had to go myself with one of his workers to a nearby plumbing supply store to pick up needed items.

He was very responsive in person and by phone, and very cordial and prompt.  The work was decent enough.  I don't know enough about home repairs and contracting to know how fair the price was, but it seemed to be in the ballpark.

Overall recommendation : Proceed, but with caution, and make sure you're clear from the outset what exactly your needs are and what exactly he's promising to provide.  And make sure they clean up properly before leaving."

"The service was amazingly fast and complete. The dryer wasn't producing any hot air. I requested quotes on Angie's List and quickly received a call from Bek at So Cal Appliance Repair. Fortunately, he was working another job locally. Within the hour, he was at our house and within another 30 minutes he identified the problem, had the parts on hand and completed the repair. Within 2 hours after I requested quotes, the dryer was fixed. Never had that happen before....ever. I highly recommend Beck. He's knowledgeable, personable and his prices are very reasonable."

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Los Angeles, CA

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
