"Communication was a problem. No one contacted me after I told them I wanted to hire them. Then their team shows up at the property on Memorial Day with no notice and they tore out one fence without my permission - my tenant called me around 9am. Long story short - I demanded a 10% reduction on price due to the awful communications and going to the property and rippping out fencing without any notice or permission to do so. The work was very good. I was told that a there was confusion and missed communication because one of their teams was quarantined with covid19 and it threw the company into chaos trying to complete projects and stay on schedule."

When I saw some of the cedar pickets had defects on them, he didn't seem to mind going to the local home improvement store and replacing them with better looking ones. He came to do the work within my specified time frames. I set a deadline for the work to be completed and he met it. He even texted me ahead to let me know he was coming. "We are really glad we hired Juan Segovia. We received quotes from 4 companies for a 13x20 patio. Segovia's quote was in the bottom half, and he said he could start in the morning and complete the patio in 3 days, which he delivered on. I had a few questions based on a few negative reviews of Segovia, so here's what I learned: Communication: Juan, the owner, who works incredibly hard and precisely, is not a native english speaker and while he has enough english to get by, I could see how this could be difficult for the client. HOWEVER, his son, Jose works very closely with Juan and speaks perfect english and WILL COMMUNICATE PROMPTLY VIA E-MAIL. He is the only landscaper who returned any of my calls or e-mails same day. Having everything in writing made me feel more confidant to hire them. Estimate $: Jose came out for an initial estimate and gave me a ballpark figure, but I wanted to speak with Juan before work began, as I had read a review saying that their actual price was WAY over the estimate. Jose and Juan came out within a day or two and were able to detail exactly what we would be paying for what. Once work started, they ended up needing several tons more dirt than they initially expected (our yard is very sloped). Also, we asked Juan to make a small change to the width of steps, which required more material. I was aware the price was going up, and in the end we were charged about $400 more than the initial estimate. I think that was very reasonable and felt informed throughout the process. Is Segovia's a large, well established company? No. Is Juan going to whip out his iPad and generate a 3D rendering of your future backyard? No. This is a small, family owned company who will get the job done. We paid a reasonable price for a patio delivered on time and within our budget. We are happy we hired Segovia."
