"Beantown was great to work with. They are responsive, polite, organized, neat, and they do great work. After dropping off the dumpster, they replaced the roof on my Dutch Colonial house in one day. After the roof was finished two other teams came in to replace all of the siding and rebuild the front portico and side deck and also add a deck extension. See also my review under Roof replacement SIDING and DECKS_and_PORCHES."

"Very high pressure sales. They were more interested in getting it done quickly than the quality of the installation. The aluminum trim around the windows looks good but they did not replace all of the old wood underneath I requested. They would put it over anything. They did not bother to brush off the sills before covering them or remove saw dust. Many of them were cut too small because they assumed all trim was the same size. They had to redo most of them and they didn’t do the bottom corner’s correctly even though I explained to them how they should be done. When they didn’t want to do something they acted like they didn’t understand me."

Customers say: Terrific value

"Rudy and his team from RUDY’S CARPENTRY AND PAINTING were great to work with, he did a thorough walk through to ensure he knew exactly what repairs we needed done, and then was quick to send over an accurate estimate. The work was timely, on budget, with no issues. I appreciated their flexibility and crews' ability in carpentry work. They removed the old rotten wooden posts on our deck and replaced them with new ones from pressure treated wood. I would highly recommend using RUDY’S CARPENTRY AND PAINTING for all kinds of jobs inside and outside of house as this is a very professional and hard working team. "

"We had the roof replaced, and from the time we walked in their office to discuss the type and color, to the time they came down and installed the roof in one day, we were impressed by their friendliness, professionalism, and work quality! The attention to detail was amazing. They actually cleaned up every piece of debris, so much so that the driveway looked better than when they started. I would highly recommend Capital!"

"I had a small leak. Sprague quickly diagnosed the need for a very expensive roof repair. I also had a skylight that was dripping and decided to replace a group of four skylights. The work was spread out over a longer time than anticipated, which Sprague said was due to unusually wet weather. As far as I can tell as an amateur looking up at the roof from a distance, the quality is good but only some winters with no leaks will confirm that. They put some rather conspicuous shiny white concrete in one small part of a strip of gray concrete but said it would eventually weather to the same color. The substantial problem came over the skylights. My existing skylights came with retractable shades for those summer days when sun shining through the skylights could be blistering hot. During the initial conversations, we focused on whether we would be able to use the old shades or would have to replace them. When the job was done, there were no shades and they were emphatic that the shades were not included despite our detailed conversations about them. The wood just inside the skylights had been replaced and needed to be overlain with higher quality wood and painted. I had assumed, based on our conversation, particularly about the shades, that doing these things was part of the job. But I didn't explicitly write the shades into the contract. Regarding the wood, they pointed to a sentence deep within the many pages of the document that left me responsible for any inside work. I had seen that but never imagined that the wood they used would have to be covered up with higher quality wood before it could be painted. I was quite surprised, particularly when I found out that this residual work, requiring a carpenter, a painter and a shades specialist, would cost several thousand dollars. I felt stupid to have relied so heavily on the conversation and to have signed off on something that only a professional would understand. In the future I would recommend having a specialist lawyer review any contract. It would have been much more professional of them to clarify at the beginning how much would remain to be done after they finished what they understood to be the job. Finally, a small thing: They didn't clean up carefully. Left in the yard were things like a roll of what looked like insulation, thirteen pounds of copper nails (I weighed them), and other stuff. I didn't feel comfortable throwing all those copper nails in the trash, so they sit in my garage pending possible donation to some workman standing outside Home Depot on my next trip there. Because of a previous experience with Sprague, I made a point of asking them to be sure to take away the advertising signs they had placed in my yard; they promised they would, but they didn't."

"Ryan and his crew were very professional and our roof is beautiful! Ryan is knowledgeable having done this work most of his life, he also was always in communication with us during the project and always punctual. A number of years later we had additional work done on our home through another company which we ended up having issues with. The roof was originally blamed for the issue so I contacted Ryan. He came out the very next day, investigated, took pictures and proved it was the siding companies error not his. We will for sure be hiring Ryan (Colonial Sash & Door LLC) for any future projects on our home.."

"Outstanding! I am a retired senior citizen who was out of town when a major windstorm uprooted a tree that landed on my house, putting a hole in the roof, along with tearing down all of the siding, and destroying the Soffitt, Fascia, gutters and downspouts. BBS immediately secured a tarp on the roof to prevent further damage, assessed the situation and presented an estimate for the needed repairs/replacement. They then worked closely with my insurance adjuster to agree on a fair price. Their customer service and attention to detail is exemplary. I was always able to communicate with their office management and the onsite construction team. I look forward to hiring BBS General Construction for some future projects that are long overdue!"

"Took down a dividing wall that required a new support beam. Initial wall demo and support beam done quickly. Issues started in the basement. Needed new posts in the basement. To do the work Scott had to cut out the concrete floor. Must have done this with a dry saw. Entire basement was covered in concrete dust. No attempt to cover anything was made including washer dryer and all stored items some of which was removed from upstairs to avoid the work in the living room. Pouring the concrete also left very uneven floor around the posts. Will have to be corrected if ever wanting to upgrade basement. Lastly the drywall repairs ceiling and some walls. Scott had to be told that the layers of mud needed to be sanded down to be considered paint ready as per our contract. Most was corrected but many corners and details left in poor condition His contractor for flooring was ok. Took 4 days longer due to double booking. Some wood slats were placed unevenly creating noticeable low and high pieces. Used Scott because he had an opening quickly but it was probably not worth it."
