"Ken and his helper were amazing. Ken came out to recommend and quote light fixtures in our unfinished basement, connect a couple of Ring floodlights, and replace the doorbell transformer and install a new Ring doorbell at my residence. Ken's work is clean, fast, and reasonably priced! I would absolutely hire him again!"

"Greg installed kitchen lighting under our cabinets and did a phenomenal job. He also handled an emergency situation for us a year later when water started entering our electrical panel. Greg not only found the cause and stopped the water, he also followed up and met w/ our power company so they could permanently fix the situation on their end. Greg is a complete professional who goes above and beyond. We would highly recommend Greg and Soucier Electric to anyone in need of an electrician."

He was very precise where he hung the pool table light on the ceiling even when the pool table was not in yet. He works with very goog professionals when he needs them. "Jeremy was very enthusiastic about this project.  He had great ideas about lighting design, advice for AV setup, and ways to keep costs down without sacrificing overall quality.  He was able to offer creative suggestions, listen to concerns, and adapt his ideas to fit those concerns.  The original plan did not include rewiring the basement.  He pointed out a number of safety issues.  Even though it added significantly to the cost, he brought the basement up to code, and we are glad we did it.  Everything works better and it is safe.  The lighting work ended up being significantly cheaper because he believed we did not need nearly as many lights as we originally planned.  As I look at our completed project, he was right.  The lighting is perfect.  We also had a request to put the center channel speaker in an unusual location.  He voiced his concern, but agreed to do what we wanted.  Again, he was right.  It sounded terrible.  He moved the speaker to right spot (which required some rewiring) with no fuss.  It sounds fantastic.  I would highly recommend Sound Electric."

"The job was to clear out most of the old plantings in a landscape bed with a mini-excavator; repair the boulder wall that supported the bed; and install new plants per their design proposal. Everything went to plan. They were a six man crew that focused on the job and finished in about 6 hours -- including repairing the yard area where the mini-excavator was operating. Will definitely use them again!"

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Manchester, CT

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
