"We received three bids to replace our aging furnace and air conditioner. We selected De Hart because: 1) best cost for the specifications, and 2) we were impressed by Larry De Hart’s professionalism in the initial consult. It took the workers 2 days to install a furnace, air conditioner, whole-house humidifier, and smart thermostat. So far, the whole system has worked well since installation."

"Kurtis was great to work with. He came in and did the estimate himself, gave me several options in different price ranges, no pressure to do any extra work that I didn't want. He showed me what really needed to get done and what could wait and explained exactly what he was expecting to do step by step. He and his crew were on time and took great care to lay down floor coverings to protect carpet and to hang tarps in areas where there was a threat of splatter. They took care to ensure everything was cleaned and neat before they left. They worked quickly and efficiently and had everything done just as discussed during the estimate. I will certainly be calling them for all of my future needs. <br />"

"Scott arrived shortly after the start of the time window, he quickly assessed the issue and started working. Quickly, he fixed both toilets and even cleaned up afterwards. There was a little water on the floor in one of the bathrooms, and Scott took the time to retrieve a shop vac and clear the floor. When he was done, he reviewed the repairs and we inspected both toilets to make sure I was happy that the issues had been addressed. Although this is the quality that I have come to expect from D and I (always excellent), it’s always nice when your expectations are met."

"Had a job for installing some cabinets and a sink, and installing a shower into an existing bathroom. Plumbing was there, just needed finishing touches. When given the quote, we were told that they would install the cabinets, but then when the techs came out they said they couldn't. They left a mess and the shower faucets drips. They also added the pipes for the sink in the wrong place and we had to change how we wanted the cabinets installed. On a good note, after we installed the cabinets ourselves and finished <br /> the sink plumbing ourselves, they came out and fixed one of the connections that kept blowing off and getting everything soaked. Nice <br /> enough guys, just had several frustrations."

"<p>We were very satisfied with the work that was performed by Matt and Dave.  Instead of replacing the facet, Matt explained in detail what was going on with my shower and asked me if he could work his magic and try to fix it. He took it a part and lube all the parts really well and it worked just like new, saving me a lot of money because it was a high dollar facet. Dave also did a complete service on my central air unit.  I was so impress with their work ethic that I signed up to have them come out at least twice a year to service my air and heating system and they stated they will look at any other plumbing concerns I may have.  I forgot to mention each time they went in/out of my house they put their foot covers on and off.</p> <br /> Good Job and Thank You Guys!!! <br />"

"So, we got home from vacation to find out our furnace wasn't working.  <br /> We called Reid on a Sunday, and we were able to get in touch with a <br /> technician within 15 minutes.  He told us he would be here in 15-20 min, <br /> it was closer to an hour before he finally arrived. <br /> He was able to <br /> make a diagnosis and replace a part, the repair guy was extremely <br /> professional and very nice.  We left our home about 30 minutes after the <br /> repair and came home a few hours later to find that the furnace was no <br /> longer working.  I am waiting on a second trip out here, and have no <br /> idea how much this is going to cost, but I'm not thrilled that the <br /> repair didn't even last the day!  So the guy came out a second time and somehow rigged the furnace so that it would work, and said he needed to replace the part that he had put in earlier that day (maybe it was a "bad part") but didn't have any others on his truck.  He said he would have to order it and could be by on Wednesday around lunch time.  <br /> Wednesday rolls around, and I finally get a call late in the afternoon and comes over to replace the part.  That all goes smoothly, again the guy is super nice and professional, but he mentions to me that the part he put in on Sunday technically didn't have the right specs for our furnace- he just assumed it would work. <br /> So, come to get the bill, and they charged us both for the work on Sunday AND coming back on Wednesday.  We are arguing the bill because quite frankly its not my fault or problem that he didn't have the parts he needed and I don't feel that we should be paying for the second trip out.  Overall the guy was nice, I just wish he had been more upfront the first time and explained that the part wasn't quite right.  If he had told me that, I would have just had waited until later in the week to get it fixed properly. <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Manhattan, KS

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
