"Outstanding. The job was originally estimated at one day but it soon turned into three full days. Every board that was cut and every shingle that was nailed was done in a highly professional manner. The roof is literally better than new. After raking the lawn could not come up with a single nail, the cleanup was that good. The roof itself was quoted at $5100 plus the additional plywood as needed. Another firm quoted a price including all needed plywood that was at least $500 more and did not include the finish coat of paint on the windows. The total cost was $9500 but that included an extensive amount of carpentry work (both roof plywood and window framing) at what I considered a reasonable price. An added bonus is we have enclosed gutters. The old roof the rain would bounce off the top of the gutters and could be very noisy at times, the new roof is very quiet. Roof color matches the paint scheme for the house and the installation was first rate. Price, quality, timeliness, could not have been better. Would definitely use this company again and would be happy to tell my neighbors. Two other quotes we received were higher as noted above and one couldn't supply the exact shingle color we wanted."

Working with William Mackay roofing was a great experience.  I knew from my home inspection that I needed to have a membrane sealed on my roof. I called three roofers before the winter and during early spring and every one of them was slow to get back to me, or just not very informative, would charge for the estimate, etc...

I called William Mackay based on the Angies List service reviews and I was not disappointed.  They contacted me immediately through the app.  They were available and they arrived on time.  They provided a free estimate, took photos of my roof, and shared them with me. They showed me exactly what needed to be done and they were straightforward - they did not try to sell services I didn't need.

When I inquired about scheduling, they had space on that day's schedule - they immediately called a worker in and got to work on my roof. The maintenance was completed in a few hours. They took photos of the completed work and emailed both "before" and "after" photos with an in-depth explanation  of the completed work.

Ben and Bill Mackay (sons of William) handled the job. Ben Mackay shared information on how to maintain my roof.  I'm a new homeowner and I bought a well-maintained house that is almost a century old. He shared info on the difference between newly constructed roofs and the materials used, and roofs like mine.  Bill managed the job.

"Excellent work! At least 1/3 of my roof on the north side had a great deal of moss on it. On much of the rest of the roof there were small amounts of moss along the bottom edge of shingles, and there were patches in scattered places on the main part of the shingles. After Hector and his son cleaned the roof, it looked brand new. They removed plants and furniture from our deck before the job and replaced them after the job. They even did a light washing of the vinyl siding of the house, which was outside the agreed-upon scope of work, but they did not charge me for it. As a former member of a site safety office in a then-Fortune 50 company, I was particularly impressed with the excellent precautions they took to insure their safety on the roof during the job. Hector’s 27+ years of experience was evident in every aspect of the job. I plan to bring him back in a year for annual maintenance. "My husband and I had a lot of questions and discussion with Robert before we made the choice to go with K&R Roofmasters. Robert was very patient and thorough in his presentation of what his company does when replacing a roof and in explaining our options. After his initial presentation, we had many questions before making the decision. (We had a previous bad experience with a different contractor when trying to obtain a roof estimate, so we were overly cautious.) All our questions and concerns were met with patient explanations. Robert was the ONLY contractor that went in our attic to inspect the roof from the underside before giving us an estimate.  When we made the decision to use K&R, we felt pretty confident that we would be satisfied.
Our roof was way past its lifetime. It was "potato chip" condition and there were leaks. Because our budget was straining from making this purchase, we were concerned about what would be discovered under the old roof shingles. Unfortunately, a lot of pieces of plywood had rot in it and had to be replaced. Robert's team checked every piece of our roof for structural integrity so only the pieces which were actually damaged would be replaced. This helped to save us money rather than just telling us it all had to be redone. Robert never tried to pressure us into doing unnecessary work which we really appreciated.
The team Robert used was a group of nice, hard-working, respectful men; Robert supervised and did some of the hands-on work. Everything was cleaned up well and the end result is a very well done, attractive roof with a power fan to keep our attic cool to help protect the shingles so they will last longer. We have gone through an entire winter with snow, ice, wind, and lots of rain and there has not been one leak or problem with our roof. Robert told me several times if we have any issues, call and he will tend to it and I'm sure he will, if needed.
Also, anytime I called the office, I had respectful and kind staff members help me.
I would highly recommend K&R and if I have a roofing need, I will be calling Robert!
