"Matt was awesome to work with! We found him after having some serious issues with another radon company. Matt was quick to respond to us and came to take a look at our system right away. After the first company we hired could not fix our radon issue (they came back again after missing a broken rubber cufflink around our fan) Matt returned and performed a thorough evaluation of our basement and current mitigation system. After only a few hours, Matt was able to find the best suction points in our basement. He took apart our system, created an additional suction point via brand new pipes, and installed a larger fan. The system ended up working flawlessly and the radon significantly decreased to normal levels within a day or so. We'd been dealing with this radon issue for months and it honestly seemed like lost cause but Matt was able to fix the issue with ease. We now have complete peace of mind and we're happy to say we can finally enjoy our basement again. Thank you Matt (and Steve!)!"

Small jobs welcome

"Needed my attic insulated with winter approaching, and after taking a lot of quotes decided to go with E&A. They were professional, polite, and knowledgeable. I called a few times ahead of hiring them and they took the time to work through the scope of the project. I never felt pressured to do anything a specific way like a lot of other companies do with their salespeople. Instead they helped me understand my options. After hiring them, they showed up when they said they would and worked very hard until the job was done. I have a large attic and the two of them worked tirelessly. They also added a catwalk to get to my air handler and cleaned out old insulation. They did a great job and we could immediately feel the difference in the house. Overall, it was a great experience. Definitely hire them."

"Chuck and Noah, are amazing to work with. They communicate extremely well and are honest. They did a home inspection Saturday morning for me. Thankfully I asked them to do a full septic inspection, not just a dye test. They found the septic system, needing major work. To the point, my bank won't approve the loan. the house failed before they even got inside it. When trying to explain to the home own, (who is also the listing agent) what was wrong, and why it needed to be fixed. All this lady did was rudely speaking over him, to the point she was mad at him for finding it. She would ask why it failed and as soon as chuck would begin to explain, she would start yelling over him, how it was fine. She must of ask half a dozen times for him to explain, for her to start arguing as soon as he spoke. I don't know how Chuck was able to be so calm and professional. I would have hit the lady, getting in my face like that. Chuck, was instead calm, kind and professional. "

"After Healthy Homes did such a great job on my rental apartment, decided to see if they could help me with the cigarette smell in my car. Was sold a small handheld fog machine and some Un-Odor product. Fogged the entire interior of my vehicle, sprayed the product on all surfaces. After washing the windows with Windex and wiping everything down with a dry towel, the car was free from odor and looked and smelled clean and fresh! Fantastic Products!!!"

"Assessment done for mold found near crawl space. Gary was fabulously helpful, even helped move some boxes out of the closet where the crawl space entrance is. He took the time to explain everything, had a sensor that can detect moisture through the wall (drywall in this case), had helpful suggestions, was very thorough in checking the nearby rooms and garage with the sensor. And he's just a nice man, a mensch. I would absolutely hire him again if needed. Thank you, Gary!"

"My house had excessive levels of radon in our lower level. The Lance Dorfi team installed a pump to pump out the radon and release it up above the roof of the house. Since then, radon levels in that part of the house have been very low, so the problem was resolved. The work was done on budget, and they did an excellent job with scheduling and customer service. I recommend them for dealing with radon."

"Dave was very professional and gave a very thorough inspection of the home we want to buy. He spend over 3 hours checking all the mechanics and structure of the house. After the inspection we received a very detailed report within 24 hours. Me and my wife are very happy with the advise Dave gave us during inspection. Truly a peace of mind using this company!"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Marlboro, NY

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
