"After several attempts to just hire Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction (during a bid process), I finally did. The rates seemed comparable, at first. However, there were many projects to be completed at my deceased mother's house. Because I am disabled and not able to get to the property, I couldn't see how badly I was taken advantage of. Not only did I pay for a job they did not do, I also paid for another job that is unfinished, plus a french drain that is causing a sink hole, and the buried equipment is now above ground. All 3 of these projects pose safety risks. The french drain collapse is only a few months after installation. After bringing these issues to the owners attention (the unfinished project I'd requested be completed for months), the owner began ignoring me. When I mentioned that litigation was going to move forward, the owner said he'd look at the work that week then blew me off again. When they actually do work, Golden Hill's quality of work is atrocious and will need to be fixed. They broke the house vinyl siding when cutting down a tree branch and refused to fix it. I hired a contractor to fix that. They will overcharge (snowplowing is expensive), take advantage of you if you are a senior or disabled, and will try to get paid without working. They should not be in business and allowed to take advantage. I now have to pay someone else to fix their work, finish their work, and do a $375 job they never did. They've been paid over $10,000, with more work to be done at multiple properties. They agreed to do a quote at a second property, then never showed up. One would figure, with that kind if business, a company would want to perform quality work and respond to a dedicated customer. Aroldo at Golden Hill Landscaping & Construction will do a poor job or not at all, blow off appointments, ignore requests, and refuse to fix problems. He will, however, not hesitate to pick up a check. You should not ever hire them. If you do, be prepared to throw money away."

"We met the contractor in the spring for him to survey the job and provide an estimate. He was highly recommended by others in our neighborhood. He provided an estimate but was unable to predict precisely when he would be able to do the job; he indicated a wait of about 4 months. We decided to wait for him because he had been highly recommended. Over the next few months, our area received a lot of rain, which delayed the project further but it was not especially urgent for us, so we waited. Eventually, the contractor started the job in late August. His crew was dilgent and professional. They were well equipped with the appropriate machinery and equipment and completed the job to a very high standard in slightly over 2 weeks. We are delighted with the results, which have transformed the appearance of our house. Overall, the job represents extremely good value."

"I hired John Caruso of Stoned Masonry and Construction in Newton, MA to replace a trench drain in my driveway. He provided a detailed contract and requested a $2000 down payment for the $4000 job, which I provided by credit card in an online transaction. He acknowledged receipt, and said he would begin work in one week. During that week, I tried to contact him by text, phone, and email concerning his request to leave materials in my garage before he began work, but received no reply. I repeated these contact attempts to inquire about his arrival time the day before and the day of his promised arrival. He never responded and he never arrived. My credit card company will try to recover my money, but I strongly advise you not to hire this person. If you do, definitely do not giver him an advance payment by check!"

"For the first 2 years, their M.O. is to communicate mostly through their online portal and email. Face-to-face communication is not something that they regularly schedule and asking them to do this has been met with no communication. In the first 2 jobs, their work was 'fine' for what they did with the exception that they didn't do what I asked and had to come back again to fix things (though they made some cuts on bushes that they were asked NOT to cut). This year, I tried again to communicate with them, but they were open to the job only through email and their portal. My attempts to speak with them were met with, literally, 'You should find someone else to do the work'. This year's job included 2 houses - one for my brother-in-law who is very ill and can't do the work he typically does himself. I thought that Twins Lawn Service would be more willing to at least do that job (a very small one), but again - they wouldn't even schedule it since I asked that they speak with me directly to understand the job. Buyer beware; call them at your own risk; I won't do that again!"

My patio is now surrounded by a gorgeous perennial garden, lattice and thuja combined provide a buffer from our busy street, and new hardscape has been added to move the grill out of the traffic area. Leisha had so many wonderful ideas that we ended up implementing. The people who worked on our yard were meticulous and hard working save for one subcontractor. Leisha let him go and made up for his errors out of her own pocket. We couldn’t be happier with our new outdoor space."
