"I met with Vince in the late summer to discuss a project that I wanted done prior to the fall. I wanted a retaining wall, some brick-paver patios, and a brick staircase done for my landscaping project. Additionally, I'd need some dirt brought in and moved around. We discussed timing, and pricing. They were competitively priced, and I could tell that they were the type of people that I wanted to work with. They were very busy that summer, but they kept me informed as to when they would be able to get to my project. Rain delayed the project longer than I would have liked - but I'm sure that's the case for all landscapers. They put in extra hours on Saturdays once the weather cooperated. After they thought the job was done, we discussed to ensure it met my needs. I had some specific things that I wanted done (size of the wall, etc.), and they kept coming back until I was satisfied. They did everything in their power to make me happy. They said they'd never had an unsatisfied customer, and that streak continues. They made sure I was happy, and went the extra mile to ensure it. Feel confident in giving them a call. Make sure they know your expectations, and they'll get the job done (and keep on working until you are happy)."

"Overall the work was done (Fall 2019) fairly well and from the curb it all looks nice. The workers were very polite and pretty punctual, hard working, and respectful. Unfortunately, there was a lot of miscommunication along the way, and some sloppy work on both the concrete and retaining walls. The layout of the steps changed and resulted in a lower walkway/steps than what they tore out, which required me to lay a couple extra courses of block and caps myself later to keep the adjacent landscaping from sliding onto the concrete. The front stoop looks great and the brick repair they did was well done. The driveway looked great after the concrete stage was finished, but when they returned to do the walls, they left a lot of scars and scratches from their skid loader scraping the driveway and turning on loose gravel, and they set a spinning saw down on the driveway leaving a pretty good sized cut in an obvious place. They did come back in the Spring 2020 and patch the gouges and holes and cuts with concrete patch but the color doesn't match well at all. We agreed to widen the approach about 3-4 feet, but that ended up maybe 20 inches wider. It works (I added a 3rd stall), but not what we talked about. They made a surprising attempt to do some pretty non-conventional/ugly course laying on one of the walls that we halted and rectified, a course that was not straight that they did return and fix, and wall corner joins that I don't really like but will live with. They were pretty pushy about getting paid for the concrete stage halfway through the project, when I was told by the owner/estimator they wouldn't take anything until the project was complete and I was happy with the work. I paid them, but I can't say I'm completely happy with the work."

"We had Speck poor our 24x30 garage slab and part of our driveway. The crew on the job was excellent. Always asking if we were happy with the progress so far. We added a few things on them last minute and they never seemed irritated or annoyed in the least. (Even though it was 100 degrees out) My husband was always in contact with Jeremy, and he was always quick to return phone calls if he didn't answer. My husband said he is a stand up guy! The crew was always on time and professional and cleaned up the area everyday before they left.  I would highly recommend this company to anybody! You might pay a little bit more but its completely worth it because you know you are getting people that know what they are doing and care about the finished product. I will definitely be using Speck in the future. <br />"

"I was looking for a company to provide organic lawn care to control weeds in my lawn. I contacted this company and they came out promptly to survey my lawn. We customized a program that I felt comfortable with and they did a nice job providing the services requested. They made sure all gates were closed and were responsive to my phone calls and emails. <br /> Although this company doesn't serve Ames anymore, they did a good job informing me of this change and directing me to a local provider that offers the same services. "Chris is very accommodating and pays very close attention to detail.  He does not accept any substandard work from any sub contractors and will have the work corrected if substandard.  This did not happen much but expect it if you have a complete renovation that takes 3-4 months to complete. The home was purchased with a renovation in mind including adding a 600 sq. foot addition containing the great room and master bedroom.  We lived in the home during the process which is good and bad.  Living area is reduced and you have to be flexible however being around to answer questions seemed very helpful to everyone.  Chris is highly knowledgeable about the process and we would hire him again for this large project! <br /> The job included:  an addition, new roof, complete paint job, new kitchen, new flooring throughout the home, new stone fireplace, complete new master bathroom including walk-in shower, dry sauna,  Walk-in closet with built-ins. <br /> Whatever bumps you have during the process, Chris will address your concerns and make it right! <br />"
