"After we reached out to Sundown Landscaping we were contacted by Barb, their landscape planner, who scheduled an appointment to discuss what we wanted for our yard. We explained that we wanted some trees in several areas of our back yard to give a little privacy as well as some visual interest. We also wanted some "garden" areas, particularly next to our back patio and along a staircase on the side of our house leading down to the patio. Barb listened carefully to everything we said and had some great suggestions. After several weeks she met with us again and showed us her proposal, including a large printed layout of our yard diagramming all of the new garden areas and trees and even some photo-like simulated renderings of what each area would look like when finished. She also explained where she suggested we add some accent and landscape lighting. It all looked good to us so we gave them the green light! A few months later the work began and, to our surprise, was completed in only four days. A crew of about ten showed up and they could not have been nicer or more polite. Unfortunately for them the week they did the installation was the first super hot week we had here in St. Louis, but they managed to get everything done quickly and efficiently. Due to the intense heat one tree did not survive (it wasn't anyone's fault; they got the trees planted as quickly as they could!), but the team replaced it before we even knew anything about it. My wife and I were extremely impressed with the professionalism the crew displayed and with the work that was done. We are even having further discussions with Sundown about possibly installing some artificial grass in a section of our back yard to go beneath a play set for our kids. We are equally pleased with the landscape lighting that was installed. It's enough to provide some safety lighting where needed, to highlight a few nice trees, and to give the exterior of the house some definition at night, but it's not overwhelming or ostentatious. We wanted "tasteful," not "tacky," and Sundown hit the nail on the head. The only small frustration we had was some mixed messages about how to coordinate this work with the company that handles our irrigation system. With new garden areas being installed we knew we would need some rotary heads to be removed and some zones of spray heads to be added for the garden areas. We said that we didn't want to have everything installed and then not be able to keep it watered, so we wanted clear instructions on how to time things with the irrigation company. We were first told by Sundown that they would coordinate with the irrigation company about the work they were going to do, and we even called the irrigation company to give them a heads-up. A week before the installation, though, we were told by Sundown not to have the irrigation company come until all of the planting was done because otherwise the crews would be in each other's way. Now we have some beautiful new trees and gardens, but our irrigation system is definitely not optimized to keep everything properly hydrated. A gentleman from our irrigation service inspected the new installations two days after they were completed and we signed a contract for them to make the appropriate changes, but until they make these changes we have to keep everything watered as best we can -- and the last few weeks have been VERY hot here (yup, St. Louis in July!). For the past two weeks I have spent over an hour every day or two setting free-standing sprinklers in various areas of the yard and running around with a hose to water the new trees. Despite my best efforts, a few plants in the garden have already died. Sundown does offer a six-month warranty on the plants and trees they install, but I don't know if that includes plants that die from inadequate watering. Trying to keep everything hydrated has been a huge challenge and very time-consuming, and I'm very worried about what is going to happen when we are out of town next week. Overall we are very happy with Sundown Landscaping and would hire them again in a heartbeat, but I do wish we had received better instructions about the timing and coordination of the changes we would need to have made to our irrigation system. For now I'm just hoping for cooler weather and some rain!"

"Called on 12 JUN 17 at 1405 hrs. Talked with Elisa (sp). Made appointment for service on 21 JUN 17 for estimate of work to be completed. Was informed service tech would be here between 1400 to 1700 hrs. Service tech showed up early, introduced himself as Gordon. Looked at the problem. Was informed the piece would be $15.00 plus the service call fee of $85.00. Told him to proceed with the repair. Completed in about 15 minutes. then leaked checked the system, and adjusted the heads on all the zones as needed. Gordon was very nice, completed the worked in a very timely manner, and did a professional job."
