"We had cracks in the dyed mortar of the bricks above our garage. Grady took the time to match the color, even with the color having aged 10 years, and you would not even be able to tell that there was new mortar. If your project is anything like ours, you will not be disappointed."

"It went great!  I called and left a message.  Scott called back promptly.  He said he had some great seasoned hardwood.  I said bring it over.  I paid him.  And now we are enjoying a warm cabin in the woods. <br />"

"An initial plan was proposed through iteration between Robert Strong and ourselves, and resulted in a cost estimate. We then worked closely with Strong and his crew throughout this project and several changes in the plan resulted from these interactions. Strong was very cooperative and flexible throughout. All of the landscaping and hardscaping work was performed with high quality, creativity, and efficiency. The project was completed one day early. Strong held to his original cost estimates adjusted by agreed-upon changes in the plan. Although the landscapers had to travel 45 minutes to get to the work site each day, this did not impact the work in any way. <br /> Unfortunately, there was a heavy rainstorm one week after completion of the project which caused a great deal of damage to the newly seeded lawn. Strong had no obligation to warranty this work; however, he readily offered to return quickly after the storm to repair the damage at a bargain rate. His responsiveness was greatly appreciated. <br /> We discovered this company at a home show. Strong was not well-known in our area but we chose him because he listened to our needs and proposed some nice solutions. After our experience we would highly recommend him to anyone. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Maryland, NY

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
