"I was extremely pleased with the work of Matt & Travis and highly recommend them. From the start, Matt was incredibly responsive and communicative, promptly addressing all my questions and concerns via text and phone. Their pricing was competitive and clearly explained. The project was completed to a high standard, passing inspection on the first attempt. I'm thrilled with the results, which truly exceeded my expectations."

"Goodfellows was fantastic! They scheduled to do the work soon after the visit and appraisal. The work was done in 1 day. Goodfellows left the area clean and completed as had been discussed. I would recommend them to anyone needing work completed. The workers were very considerate."

"I had a problem late in the season. When I explained the problem to other pool companies they would not even consider helping me. In Water Pools went way out of their way to help me. I am very grateful and would highly recommend. They CARE about their customers"

"I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed my experience with Luke. He made what I thought would be a nightmare project into a quick and painless procedure. My retaining wall was caving in and the basement doorway was in a very awkward location. Luke took care of it all! He was kind, patient and offered solutions to every question I had. On top of the great workmanship and friendly attitude, Hurley Design offered fair pricing. 10/10 will be using Luke again to help on my next project! "

"Matt is very professional and reliable contractor. He was able to clean deep rust stain from our stamped concrete and the result looked better than when the concrete was originally poured! He was also able to fix significant discoloration as a result of a light acid that I purchased from Lowes. Great guy and solid work. These photos are before, during, and after Matt's work."

"I wanted my steps and walkway cemented. They got in contact with me immediately and did the work immediately. They even worked on the weekend (which I did not request). The price was very fair and the project came out great. I would highly recommend if you have concrete work to call them. I clicked on several people on Home Advisor and a few didn’t even get back to me. DM gave me the obvious impression that they wanted my business and wouldn’t just get around to it when they had the time "

"Everything was perfect. Matt and crew, that would include Joyce, are simply wonderful. Everyone was knowledgeable and professional. They answered all my questions and even made some suggestions, which I took. Quality of work done was top notch. I LOVE my new door. They are my go-to garage door professionals. Mary Ann P."

"My wife and I were very pleased by the plaster work that was performed in our home by Robert Dell'aquilla Plastering. The owner and his workers did great work on about 5 different areas of our house, ranging from holes that had been punched into walls from previous electrical work, damage that had been done during storms and leaking gutters, and cracks in some rooms due to subsidence. In each case, the work was done professionally and completely, addressing the issues and leaving each area looking like new. The employees were very experienced and skilled, making some difficult repair situations look amazing. They treated our home like their own, even repairing some minor issues they spotted that were not initially requested. All of the crew were diligent in cleaning the rooms and closet areas that had been worked on. We found Robert Dell'aquilla Plastering by searching and researching previous reviews. We were very pleased with the work that they performed in our home."

"Lee's crew completed the job as expected, and we are very pleased. They showed up early and stayed all day for almost 5 days. Every day they cleaned up, and kept everything as orderly as possible. We had a challenging scaffold setup on one, and his crew erected a large scaffold setup to go over a fence and not hurt a blueberry bush. Lee kept me up to date as he applied for a COVID variance, but then had to wait for PA to go Yellow before he could return to work."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Mcdonald, PA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
