"A potential buyer for a house I was selling had a Radon Test done. It scored a 13.7! Affordable Radon came out and gave me a bid for two systems, one for each side of the house. 3 weeks later the score is 1.1! They did a great job and got rid of the radon from beneath the slab!"

Small jobs welcome

My name is oscar Pedroza, a 23 year old contractor based in Arizona and the owner of New Gen services LLC. As a young business owner, I take pride in building something of my own while continuing the foundation my father started. "<p>it was superb! they easiest, hassle free Radon test in town, with extremely proficient people -- very knowledgeable and very people-friendly! they took their time to explain things on the phone to me before I committed. the test came back within 10 days or so -- via email. which is very convenient. it was very clear as it is, but I like talking through it and get advice. they were instantly available to discuss. they gave me future tips to keep on top of all things Radon related. </p> <p>I have to say that all this comes to be after 3 months of many back and forths with 3 other companies -- none of the other companies could be bothered to schedule a time, and those who did, never showed up.. many times over. I don't know why I was so patient with them and I wish had discovered Environmental Testing & Research Laboratories much sooner.</p> <p>Really highly recommend them!</p> <br />"

"Very responsive and professional. Made several valuable suggestions and explained the steps involved and meaning of the analytic tests of the indoor air. After I instituted recommendations, air was even cleaner than before the incident. Very helpful. Would use again. He came to the house for the testing and sample collection. Called and answered messages in a timely way. No one wants this type of problem, but this is an excellent, properly credentialed and qualified expert if you need indoor air testing. <br />"

"Came two weeks before to give estimate on carpets and upholstery cleaning and scotch guarding of carpets and furniture . At that time told us about air duct cleaning which also figured into the cost. Only problem was they refused to move any lamps as they did not want to be responsible for breakage. Also did move all furniture but had to specifically ask them to move bookcases which we had emptied ahead of time. Also, moved out small curio cabinet and liquior cabinet. Another company refused to move any furniture. This is one reason we chose Coit. Came two weeks later and cleaned ceramic floors in master bath, kitchen and front hallway. Did an excellent job on everything."

"Freddy Flores came to evaluate the situation and gave me an estimate for the work. After I agreed to that, he contacted me to tell me that they had come up with a somewhat less expensive solution that would work as well, so we changed to that plan. It took a couple of months for the city to approve the permit. Once that was done, the work was scheduled for two days. Day 1: Aug 18, a crew of two (Martin was crew chief) installed a helical pier to support the broken portion of the patio under the pillar. They finished that work in approx. 3 hours. I called Freddy to come back out because a small crack appeared which ran from the big break to the house. Freddy diagnosed it as a result of the movement of the patio during the pier installation. Day 2: Aug 23, Sarah came to both stitch the crack and apply poly to it. It took her approx. 4 hours to complete the work. In addition to fixing the main break, she also put poly on the small crack to help prevent it from getting worse. The end result is that the patio is again in one piece, the corner is now anchored so that it cannot sink further, and the patio both looks good and is completely useable again. Excellent work from all involved. I will definitely contact AZ Foundation Solutions should I have any further problems which they could fix."

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Mesa, AZ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
