"In this particular case, Lance Roofing offered the best price by far. The workers did a fine job.....very competent, hard working, and accommodating. Clean up afterward was very thorough. They finished the whole job in less than a day."

"Fusion Roofing was punctual for both our appointment for an estimate and also for work. Their quote for high quality shingle was by far the best of the four estimates we received. They were also promptly responded to emails and phone calls. There were a few glitches - ensuring contract had selected shingle color, placement of vents, and the gutter guard sub contractor. However, Fusion responded promptly, appropriately, and patiently to each concern. While it would be nice not to have any challenges, the fact that they were so responsive and quickly rectified each concern was reassuring and the reason we would hire again. It would be hard to beat their pricing and customer responsiveness. It was clear that the number one priority was customer satisfaction."

"I've had two experiences with Advantage Roofing. One was installation of a new roof on one residence and the repair of an existing roof/installation of flue covers. Both jobs were handled promptly, professionally and in a quality fashion. The applied their same work ethic to both the large and small jobs."

"Very prompt on initial estimate and contract.  Had to wait awhile for wet weather this summer but entire project done in 3 days when started: 1st day pressure washed entire house; 2nd & 3rd days porch scraping, and 1st & 2nd coats of paint. I was pleasantly surprised he (owner Dennis) assigned 4 workers to my small cottage house, which as stated, only needed trim and porch. So..3 days total was excellent in my book.  Job very well done; very neat precise painting; workers very professional and prompt. Dennis checked on them 2nd day & we both reviewed work & a few very minor areas that needed a little extra paint.  Dennis (& his very nice office worker Dora) also worked with me very well in that I finally found my perfect shade of green but in another brand; he had it matched by Porter's (& he recommended Sherwin Williams for porch, which I also chose.)  The match was perfect; I was very picky about the green, and had purchased several samples that I used on foundation 1st.

"The pricing and installation went great. Communication with Tom was great and the guy that came out to complete the work was extremely nice and professional. I can't wait for it to rain to see the difference that my gutters make."

"We have a garage that runs underneath the house. The three rooms that were over the garage were colder than the rest of the house. In October we had Retrofoam inject foam insulation in the ceiling of the garage , hoping that would help warm those rooms. Now that we have had cold weather, I really notice how much warmer those rooms are. They did a good job, and there was no mess to clean up."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Miamitown, OH

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
