"Great company to work with. They were right on with their estimates. Professional and detailed in the work they performed. Very clean and thorough in every aspect of the work. They walked around with me find out and place receptacles where I wanted them. They quoted and perfect the job to my specifications. They did not try and add on or up sale anything. "

"I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a deeply unsatisfactory experience I had with a handyman I located through your platform, Angies List. This situation has left me significantly out of pocket and with an unresolved household issue. The individual, named Alex, was engaged to address an electrical problem at my home. He explicitly represented himself as a certified electrician. Unfortunately, beyond his first name and a phone number, I failed to obtain any other identifying information or official company details from him at the time. Alex visited my home to assess the problem and subsequently returned on a different day to commence the work. Following his visit, I paid him a substantial sum of $1800 for the services rendered. Regrettably, since receiving payment, Alex has become entirely unresponsive. I have made numerous attempts to contact him, but he no longer answers my calls. As a result, I have not received a receipt for the payment, and more critically, the electrical issue he was hired to fix remains unresolved. This situation is extremely concerning, not only due to the financial loss but also because it involves potentially incomplete or faulty electrical work, which poses a safety risk. I am deeply disappointed by this experience and the lack of professionalism displayed by someone found via your service. I request your urgent assistance in this matter. Please advise on the steps I can take to investigate this individual, recover my funds, and resolve this outstanding issue. I would also appreciate understanding your company's dispute resolution process for such circumstances."

FAQs for electrical for home addition or remodel installation projects in Midlothian, IL

There are several telltale signs that your home is due for an electrical upgrade. You may need to rewire your house if your lights are constantly flickering or your circuit breaker keeps tripping. If you feel mild electric shocks when you touch light switches, hear buzzing sounds, or notice burning smells, you may need to rewire your house, too. Discolored or burnt-looking switches and faceplates are another crucial warning sign.

Properly installed copper wiring in a residential property can last as long as 50 to 100 years in some cases, but many homes over 30 years old are due for an upgrade. That’s the timeline that many experts recommend, even if it is only a partial update to accommodate technological advancements, increased power demands, and changing safety requirements.

At $3 to $5 per square foot, the cost to wire a 2,000-square-foot house ranges from $6,000 to $10,000, on average. This can depend on many factors, like the age and complexity of the house and how easy it is for contractors to access the areas they need to get the job done. Opening and repairing walls can further add to your total cost.
