"Erick and his team did an amazing job transforming our weed-infested garden into beautiful, raised garden beds that will outlast us. They removed or transplanted the existing vegetation; dug, leveled, and compacted the foundation; precisely placed every paver, filled the boxes with fresh topsoil, and installed drip irrigation. They also put down fabric and gravel in the walkways and around our shed to complete the look and keep weeds down. I couldn't be happier! They were punctual, professional, fast, and very reasonably priced considering the scope of the job. We will definitely call them again for future projects and recommend them to family and friends."

"We hired Sol Scapes Solutions to install our sprinkling system, put in a pathway with pavers, and lay sod. They started digging trenches without doing any kind of leveling, removing rock debris, or weeds that had been there for 4 years. They put sprinklers in the wrong places and then started laying sod on uneven, rocky, weedy ground. We told them it was unacceptable and to start over and begin again by leveling our yard first. They brought in rakes and began hand raking rock hard dirt. We told them they would need to bring in big machines, tillers and skid steers in order to do the job right. They said they couldn't do that because the sprinklers were already in and they didn?t want to have their machines dig them up. We told them that was their problem and to figure it out. After many conversations explaining to them how to do their job, they finally brought in some equipment to try to level our yard and lay sod and it looks like crap! We would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE!"

"SLC Landscaping and Dumpsters provided exceptional service for my tree trimming project for three very large mature trees. The most compelling reason that I accepted the very competitive bid from SLC Landscaping and Dumpsters was that Corey was very knowledgeable about my trees. He provided information about the current health of the trees, listened to my concerns and understood my expectations and priorities during the pre-bid walk through at my home. He promptly assured me that the two different types of trees would benefit from different types of trimming due to the types, conditions and damage present in the wood. I was reassured to know that the trimming would not include tree branch topping or just whacking away at the tree branches. Their tree trimming process was explained in detail during the walk through. The crew arrived promptly as scheduled. They worked quickly, removed all the branches and cleaned up the area around the tree. I am very happy with the results. "

"The Aridscape Utah team visited my home 2 times to discuss the sprinkler system valve and irrigation system upgrades. They gave a detailed and competitive bid quote. The plan was discussed in detail and my requested changes were reviewed and implemented without stress. The two people that I talked with and messaged at Aridscape Utah were professional and very pleasant to work with. "

"I tried everything I could to avoid leaving a bad review. I hired them to xeriscape my parkway. They were going to do everything but the plants. When they were finishing up the job, one of the guys said go get your plants and we’ll come back tomorrow and finish that up with the drip. I got the plants and despite multiple attempts to have them come and finish the job and clean up the mess they left they didn’t show up. We tried calling and texting and they still didn’t show up. They also didn’t use the gravel that I selected and by the time I realized, it was too late. Unfortunately, I cant recommend this company."

"Franklin did a great job! He was very mindful with our modest budget and planned a beautiful retaining wall and walkway for our sloped yard for a very reasonable price. He communicated well and completed the work in the timeframe he specified. He is one of the kindest and most reliable contractors I’ve ever met."

FAQs for sod installation projects in Midway, UT

Seeding costs less up front, but you’ll wait months—and sometimes a full season—for the grass to fill in. Sod costs more per square foot, yet it gives you an instant, usable lawn the day it’s installed and needs far less care during the first year.

If speed and early curb appeal matter, the higher sod price is often worth it; if you’re watching every dollar and don’t mind the wait, seed can still be a smart play.

Start by sketching your lawn and breaking it into rectangles or circles. Measure each section, multiply length by width, and then add all the sections together for the total square footage. Standard sod rolls are two feet by 1.5 feet, and one pallet covers 450 square feet.

Divide your total area by 450 to see how many pallets you need, then round up—extras come in handy for cutting around curves or mistakes. Still unsure? A local sod supplier or installer can confirm your math before you order.

Most sod grips the soil within 10 to 14 days. During that stretch, keep foot traffic to a minimum and mow only if the grass gets tall. After two weeks, the roots should be strong enough for light use, but wait six weeks before heavy play or frequent mowing. Giving the grass that short honeymoon helps it anchor firmly and sets the stage for a durable, healthy lawn.

Give your new lawn two full weeks before any foot traffic, then stick to light use only. Hold off on vigorous play, parties, or regular mowing until the six-week mark so the roots can dig deep. Keep watering on schedule and watch for any dry patches. A little patience now means stronger turf and fewer repairs later.

Keep an eye on color, moisture, and even growth. Fresh sod should stay uniformly green; brown spots or gaps hint at dry soil or poor contact. Water deeply at least once a day for the first week (more in hot weather) and back off gradually after the roots take. Avoid heavy foot traffic until the grass feels firmly anchored. Quick attention to trouble spots now prevents costly patches later.

Aim for spring or early fall when daytime temps hover between 55°F and 80°F. Mild weather and consistent moisture help the roots knit quickly. Laying sod in midsummer can stress the grass, while frozen winter soil blocks rooting altogether.

If you must install outside the ideal window, budget extra time for watering and tending to the turf. Choosing the right season makes the job easier and the lawn tougher.
