This wall failure put my house at risk of sliding down a steep slope. I contacted Art Miller at Engineered Retaining Walls, LLC, and he immediately had a crew out to my property to brace up my house and prevent it from sliding down the slope while he removed the wooden retaining wall and replaced it with a Redi-Rock retaining wall to protect my home. "I hired Benn to put in some terracing along the back of our cabin where there is a steep slope and we had been dealing with erosion. He spent two days on the project and now we have a great 4-foot wide gravel walkway that has also taken care of our erosion issues. All communication was done in a timely way and they worked to keep the scheduled dates (even with some weather issues leading up to them) because it is a rental property and we had blocked off those days well in advance. "I requested 6 quotes from local contractors. While Patrick Stollenmaier was not the cheapest, his plan was quite detailed and added a secondary wall 6 ft in to ensure the land was usable for a raised bed garden and lawn area on the upper segment. While the start was delayed by a couple of weeks, the work done was exemplary. At 80 ft long, the crew had limited space to work but all was coordinated with me and neighbor. Some of the details included ample 'deadmen' to better secure the wall to the hillside, much gravel for adequate drainage as well as downspout drains directed to the street to drain rather than draining into neighboring yard. The crew cleaned the site daily and, when finished, spread straw and grass seed on the lawn areas and applied sufficient mulch on the garden site."

"I did not hire them right away. They gave me an estimate months earlier and kept following up. They were very good at getting right to it. They pulled up my old driveway in a very short period of time and graded everything. They really took care not to disregard my requests because I wanted it to be right. We finally settled on the most practical layout for drainage to flow properly. They also did a retaining wall at the same time with rear. I'm happy with the way it turned out. My only criticism is They had to work till late in the night to make sure the concrete smoothed out right. But they got it done right, so I'll leave them 5 stars."

"I would highly recommend David. After finding him on Angi, I had him inspect a slope and retaining wall on a house we are looking to purchase in Franklin. The home inspector had noted some settling of the porch, and I worried about the stability of the slope underneath the porch. The current owners had a local person build a retaining wall a few years prior, and they were convinced that any erosion issues had been resolved. However, David immediately pointed out to me that the current retaining wall wasn't built properly and was failing to do its job. Already, there was so much erosion that he could literally slide his hand under the base of the retaining wall, and he warned that we were sitting on a time bomb. In fact, David said it would literally be only a matter of months before we had a much bigger problem on our hands. I contacted the owners, and -- about a month later-- they agreed to have David fix the problem. Even from the time when David first came out, more erosion had occurred in the ensuing several weeks -- just as he had warned. He did a great job of building a much more substantial wall and also graded the top of the driveway to fix a drainage issue. I can't imagine the mess we'd have had to deal with if the problem had not been addressed. Before contacting David, I'd spent a good bit of time researching contractors in the area. The mountains are wonderful, but they are also home to a number of contractors who do very questionable work (as evidenced by the contractor who built the first retaining wall). When I saw that David had over 250 positive reviews on Angi, I knew I'd found our contractor! He did not disappoint. If you're looking for someone you can trust to do slope or foundation work, look no further. David is your man."

"Hired ZR Landscaping to rebuild a retaining wall with paver patio that was poorly installed just four years earlier by another contractor. Zach diagnosed poor drainage behind the wall as the reason the wall base was washing out. Zach had a detailed, competitively priced written proposal to me in under 24 hours. He offered to reuse some of the existing blocks to reduce the total cost. Our project was scheduled just a few weeks out, not months out like a couple other contractors had proposed. The crew was punctual and very hard-working for a solid four days. Crew leader Julio answered all our questions and kept us informed through of each level of the new installation.
