"They were very good at working with my work schedule when it came to getting Bill to my house. When he came, Bill was very professional and matter-of-fact about what was wrong with my plumbing and what would be the best course of action. After that, he quoted me a price I felt very fair and told me what it would cost if certain things had to be replaced during the job. When Bill went to work, I kept out of the way, and it was done in about an hour or so. The work was well done and actually looked like proper sink plumbing; and my garbage disposal now works! I'm very happy with how he worked and explained the pieces of the cost to me. Definitely will be calling again for my next plumbing need."

"We initially called because the heating was non-functional -- just blowing cold air. At visit 1, the repairman diagnosed the problem as the heating elements having burned out completely, and he ordered the replacement parts. These took a while to arrive. At visit 2, the repairman installed the elements, wired everything back together, turned it on to check that all was working and left. The next day, the heating system started to produce an unpleasant burning-oil or plastic smell when it was on. I checked the heating elements and the housing for drips of oil, found nothing, called GCPH again. They sent a repairman out, who checked everything and determined that the wiring had been put back incorrectly, causing some of the electronics to overheat and make the smell. They had the good grace not to charge me for the second call. Still, my confidence in their ability to repair heating systems has not recovered. <br />"

"My husband and I were originally planning to remodel our home by adding part of a second floor and third floor. I interviewed many contractors for this job. I was most impressed with Will Gaddy's prices and personality. He also came well recommended to me by many people. After getting bids from many contractors including Will, we realized that the cost of remodeling would be prohibitive so decided to keep our old house, rent it out and buy a new one. We asked Will to do the remodeling required on both places. His bids were very reasonable and he often came in under his bids on many projects. The people who worked for him were very polite and considerate and did great work. I would definitely use him again if I had another job!"

"The service technician arrived within the scheduled service window. They found that the original thermostat was faulty and replaced it. After making sure the new thermostat was working properly, they put the wood cover over the water heater space and put the clothes dryer back in place. The water heater is not easy to access. All the work was performed in less than one hour. Only negative is that the labor charge of $115/hr seems high. They do give a senior discount for service."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Milltown, MT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
