In traveling through the neighborhood, some of the best built fences had a “Barletta Construction” nameplate. So I decided to give them a call and and spoken with Julio - the owner. Julio was very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. When he came to the house to measure the fence, he reviewed every detail and made meticulous notes. He was prompt about getting a detailed quote back to me and was extremely easy to work with. "Greg installed our fence in 2003. We have used it at all times during the last 21 years and it has not only kept kids and animals out of our pool (except when we wanted our kids and others in the pool), but it has also kept out grass clippings from lawnmowers and some leaves. Recently 85-90 mph winds damaged a small part of our fence (and caused four significant branches from our large oak tree to fall). Greg repaired that part of our fence at no charge even though the damage was due to an Act of Nature instead of a defect. Highly recommend!"

"One of our fence posts broke during a high windy day. Based on my past experience, I called one of the fence repair service but found out that they are out of business. I was hesitant to call up other fence repair companies again because based on my past experience most of them are highly unprofessional. They either do not return calls or will give an astronomical quote. But the job needed to get done and I had no option. One of the popular repair company in my neighborhood received an F rating from me due to their unprofessional behavior. So I skipped them and called Wes at Alligator Fence & Repair. What a guy!  <br /> <br /> During our call I explained the work that needed to be done - one post replacement and gate repair. He quoted a very reasonable price of just $90 with a metal post (my previous repair guy charged $125 for wooden post). Gate repair was estimated at $125. He said he would come out and give an estimate. Repair work would be done later based on our schedule. He arrived on the scheduled date to give an estimate. My wife asked to check other posts and we found two more posts that needed to be replaced. Wes did not try to upcharge or upsell anything we didn't need. He was courteous and honest and provided an accurate quote for the work. He emailed me the quote and even offered a discount (Angies List members 5%) on his already reasonable prices. My neighbor wanted to get some other work done on his fence. Wes even offered him the same discount.  <br /> <br /> We exchanged few messages and calls and were able to work out a day for the work. He showed up in freezing cold on-time. We were worried how he would be able to work through the frigid temperature. Of course, we were wrong. Not only did he finish everything on time, he did a fantastic job on the repairs as well. <br /> We were lucky that we found Wes and Alligator Fence & Repair. "Dowd was great.  I called out of the blue on a Thursday afternoon, and he not only answered immediately, but offered to stop by within an hour to look at the broken gate and test the motherboard.  Although I was at work, Dowd accessed the gate, and took the motherboard to his shop to identify the problem.  He called me within hours to let me know that I needed a new board, and then told me he could run to the wholesaler's store in Irving that afternoon and replace the board that same evening.  I told him not to worry about it and to come in the morning, and the very next day he had the board installed, the battery replaced (which ended up being another issue that required him to run out to Irving and back) and the gate fixed.  His prices were very reasonable - I found the board myself online for $285+tax, which would have taken days to arrive and me to try to fix it.  Dowd had the same board in his possession that day, and did all the work for $400.  Easily worth the cost of having a professional do it, and do it immediately.   <br />"

After checking on the web and investigating some of the better known sheds which I also saw advertised on TV, I realized that almost all of these were pre-constructed ? ready to be loaded onto a truck and dropped off into your back yard. This may be OK if you either have an open backyard or you were willing to spend quite a bit of money to have a section of your fence removed and replaced after the building was delivered.</p> <p>In addition, I also found that many manufactured buildings used 24? on-center studs -- some of which were not even full dimension 2x4?s. Almost all were built on wooden skids which served as the base foundation for the building.  As my last building failed due to ground settlement and I didn?t want to invest in a footed slab, I kept looking for a more substantial building.</p> <p>I finally found the solution, DFW Shed Co. After going over their web site, I found the perfect way to replace my old shed. First, they construct the shed on-site ? which is ?Stick-Built? not a ?Pre-Fab?.
