"The project went smoothly and efficiently. Greg was great with returning phone calls and being adaptable to the work schedule of me and my spouse. It was a daunting project requiring excavation of an old concrete patio, repairing some foundation on the house, laying a newer bigger paved patio with concrete slab on the side, and also a paved stairway with stone steps going up a hill. Everything turned out even better than expected. He is also true to his word about repairs and the warranty of the patio. A few months after the project ended, we had to have a small portion of the patio pulled up for some electric line work. He had his crew come out to level, lay, and tamp the patio stones back into place free of charge. Would highly recommend."

"Duane did a fantastic job repairing our outdoor brick oven. It was crumbling away and he restored it and gave it new life. Always impressed with the work done by Empire Stone Masonry"

"I have been hesitant to write this review because I think Al and his team were tremendous people:  punctual, honest, hardworking.  I think they also did a pretty good job, but there is one thing that became clear to me soon after the job was done.   I had asked--very clearly--for new, high quality growing soil.  I have poor quality clay soil and things don't grow well in it.  I was so clear that I wanted tons of new, high quality soil (which I paid for) to replace the clay (or be on top of the clay.  I thought I received that, but I admit that I did not monitor every aspect of the job.  Within several weeks of the job completion, previously planted perennials and bulbs started flowering.  This would have been impossible had the soil been replaced, as some had quite shallow roots.  Throughout that first gardening season, with the new landscaping, it was clear I had my old crappy soil.  I did not contact Goodfellows to give them a chance to make it right, so that's my problem.
Overall, many things worked out well:  people worked quickly, they were pleasant, and they followed the design that I provided.   I think the price we paid was on the high end (the $13,000 does not cover all the materials), but the job was big, involving half of our urban front yard.  I don't know if corners were cut on the soil, but I had been emphatic about wanting a high-quality soil, so I was so disappointed when I clearly did not get it.  .   I am not sure if I would hire them again (one can only indicate YES or NO on the Angie's review).  I think, like so many vendors, they have strengths and weaknesses.

"Jason reviewed the job and said I would get the estimate that day and I did. Wow!! Lisaâ s scheduling communication was great. Day/time that job was to start was spot on. The work was all done in one day. Tore down a short Chicago brick wall. Rebuilt the wall after tear down. Care was taken through out the day to keep the job site clean. Tarps were put down to catch all debris. Workers were friendly and answered all questions that I had. Clean up of job site was very good. Absolute Masonry is a great contractor to work with on your concrete repair projects. Thank you Absolute Masonry."

"Golden Stones fit me into their schedule to repair an outside brick wall of my 100 year old house that i desperately needed finished at the very end of the season. Their price was reasonable and they did great work with good communication."

"We were Impressed by their knowledgeable staff and professionalism throughout the entire project. L&R Suburban Landscaping’s stone masons were true craftsman and great to work with. Their office staff kept us informed on scheduling and billing and were there to answer questions throughout the project. We were extremely satisfied with how the project turned out and we’d highly recommend them."

"Wonderful experience with Better Yards and Gardens. Good communication, great patience with property being in Saint Paul and challenging little acreage of a backyard. Patio is beautiful! And the cleanup of retaining wall beds and beds along house and putting in landscape rock looks great. Timing to schedule was short and the project was completed in a day and a half. Would definitely recommend Better Yards and Gardens!"

"My house is over a hundred years old and needed some repairs and touch up from previous repairs that were not done well. Duane and Ben did a great job! They were easy to work with and made sure everything was done to my satisfaction. The work they did included, the repair of concrete steps, remove excess repair materials (previously done) from the face of the bricks, repairing and re- enforcing brick planters that are attached to the house, sealing gaps between concrete walkway and the house. There were a few bricks that were badly broken and they were able to make a “face” that looked much better. I would work with them again."
