With over 6 years experience serving the Kalispell and surrounding areas, NW Gutter Guards LLC is your solution for all your gutter covering needs. We pride ourselves in top notch customer service, and overall excellence in communication. Our screw-in, stainless steel micro-mesh guard varieties carry 30-year clog-free, hassle-free, and transferable warranties- the best product on the market. Our installs to date have a 100% effectiveness rate. Previously operating as Alpine Gutters, NW Gutter Guards was formed under a rebrand to focus on pursuing the niche market of eliminating your yearly service of gutter cleaning.

"NW Gutter Guards are just wonderful. I had a problem area with clogged gutters last year. Andrew came and put the gutter guards in that area and to run heated wire on the north side of the home to prevent those lovely icicles that used to appear in the winter. I wish I had the entire house done at that time as this year, 2 more problem areas came up. Carson and Teavin completed the rest of the home in October.. All three were very professional, quick to complete the job and left the place spotless. No more climbing up ladders to unclog gutters. Yay! Awesome friendly crew and a great product from the company. I would not hesitate to recommend."

At Western Montana Roofing, we redefine roofing services with a promise of integrity, reliability, and exceptional craftsmanship. Founded on the values of lifelong friendships and hands-on experience, our team has been delivering top-tier roofing solutions since 2017.

"I own Atlas Enterprises LLC (we are a general contracting company). Western Montana Roofing does a great job at a reasonable price and are very responsive. They even helped a customer with the insurance company after the windstorm. They have such a great reputation, the adjuster greatly valued Zach’s input enough that it was the deciding factor in the approval for the replacement of that roof!"

We are a quite, respectful, clean, and well mannered crew. The owner of ZW General is present on all jobs. ZW General is always upfront with the homeowner regarding the cost of roofing and roof repairs. All work is outlined in a contract between homeowner and ZW General, therefore there are never surprises for the homeowner concerning cost. ZW General is referral based business. It is local business that is a true Montanan business in nature and pride. ZW General guarantee's life time warranties excluding acts of God Almighty.

"It went very well, overall. Work was interrupted a couple of times by high winds, rain, and even snow. We worked out ventilation needs, balanced with aesthetics. The city building inspector was pleased. He observed that our roofer does very good work. Roofer had an excellent array of possible shingle types and colors from which to choose. The new roof looks great and is well-constructed. The post-construction clean up of the site was done well. Recommendation: an itemized list of the costs of all construction components, and the hours required for and costs of different facets of the project. If something comes in under the projected cost, an appropriate credit to the owner."

Rhino Roofing is a family owned roofing company with headquarters right here in Montana. With 13 years of roofing experience, owner Brian Bovee brings professional quality service and craftsmanship to your roofing needs.

"This was for new membrane and composition roofing from hail damage. Rhino Roofing roofed approximately 10 homes in the neighborhood.. I believe we were the last job. I also believe his crew was getting pretty tired. Very professional up front. Explained how meticulous the company was on the job. We were gone during most of our roofing project, approximately 6 days. They were almost done when we returned. A little of the roof was left to do and they were just starting the ridgeline and hips. Our home's roof had a "decorative" architectural touch to the hips. It didn't appear this was going to be replicated. I talked to the company owner about how the roof would look when it was done, mentioning the added height on the hip shingles and he assured me the roof would look exactly like before. I saw before they were done the roof was not going to look like it did before. I called the owner. He told me he wasn't certain that shingle was made anymore, he could do the raised look but he would charge me more than the original bid. I later found out that it was no special product, it was ridge ventilation material. The same they had used on our ridgeline. He apologized but did not offer to make the roof appear as it did before even though he had previously assured me it would. After the job I found what looked like asphalt scrapes and marks on the siding of our home. Also saw one of our gutters was sagging and damaged. Very obvious since it was on our driveway side. He sent one of his men out and he was able to repair the gutter to where it had little appearance it was damage. There had been a crew out earlier that morning to clean some of the gutters they had missed, I had to call on that but I think the damage was done during tear off. The next day I was looking at the roof again. I found several areas where the siding had been pulled out, probably to put new flashing on, but not put back in place. I took care of this. Took me about half a day. Roof looks good. Just hope it performs well. Pretty disappointed all in all. I was lied to. Doesn't set well with me."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Missoula, MT

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
