"We are very please with the work done by Steve. We found him reliable, skilled, professional and personable. He called when he said he would, arrived on time and completed the work in a timely manner. We found his pricing to be reasonable as well. Among other things Steve installed permanent Christmas lighting on the outside of our home - we are thrilled with it!"

"Listen, just go ahead and hire Romano. He is so good, very patient, cool headed and over willing to make sure he solves your problems. He kept coming back to my home until he fixed all my problems 100%; not minding the time it was taking him and many trips he did to get it resolved. He is purely focused on customer satisfaction. He is the BEST I HAVE SEEN!!!"

"We found NY Landscape Lighting through Angie’s List. We had 2 other proposals for up-lighting our 200’ winding driveway. We prefer to use local businesses whenever possible and Chris’ company had excellent reviews. Chris replied promptly and gave us a clear, well documented proposal. All materials were top quality and after my many questions, it was clear Chris knew this business quite well. Pricing was competitive -not the least or most expensive. The proposal was for a 300W transformer remote smart phone app control for up-lighting 10 driveway trees and converting our driveway entry 120v post lights to low voltage LEDs. His crew of 3 were extremely polite, left everything so clean - didn't look like anything was disrupted. They were very thorough in all aspects… job was completed in 1 day and next day Chris came by to get the wifi interface working with our smartphone. I will definitely use him again – we plan more work in the fall."

"Dave showed up on time as discussed and completed all work in a timely manner. He found and replaced a bad switch for our pond pump and repaired/replaced all lights and switches where we were having problems. He is a professional and it was nice working with someone that treats you in a fair and honest manner. Will definitely repeat for other projects."

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Monroe, CT

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
